Homemade magnetic no ghost logos

For sometime now I wanted magnetic ghost buster logos for my car doors but I didn’t feel like spending a lot of money buying them off ebay or finding a professional sigh maker to make them for me so I made some on my own for cheap which seem to be a pretty good alternative.

Here’s how I made them, it’s pretty simple so you guys might find it dumb for me to explain but here I go.

1. First I printed this logo out on sturdy paper.

I used a type of paper that you are suppose to peel the backside off making a sticky side usable but I didn’t peel it and just left it in two pieces to help make it more stiff. Also before printing make sure you go to printing settings and choose to have the image printed to the maximum size for the paper you’re using. And if you have a colored printer be sure to fill in the spots that are suppose to be red.

2. If you don’t have a colored printer (Like me) then get some red paint and hand paint the parts that are suppose to be red. It took me 5 coats to make it look like one solid shade of red.

3. After the paint has fully dried get some clear sticky lamination paper. Laminate the front and backside of the image to protect it from water and UV Rays. Also it helps to make the logo stiffer.

4. Then use a razor or utility knife to slowly cut along the edge of the logo image being careful not to cut too close to the image and damage it.

5. This next part can be hard depending on what stores are in your area. But luckily I found big square shaped magnets at a Dollar Tree store that I was able to glue to the backs of the logos. I used that basic school glue that’s usually white and is easy to clean up. It’s actually plenty strong enough to hold up to the wind and rain.

And that’s basically it. I haven’t tested it out a real lot but I did drive around some and reached speeds around 55MPH without the logos falling off so I think they’re good. As long as most of the back surface is covered in magnetic material it should hold. The ghost’s hands sometimes start to lift up off the side of the car at about 40MPH but by adjusting the magnet to cover most of the hand you can help to fix that. That’s the best reason for using the basic school glue because you can take the magnet off for adjustments if you need to.

Here's what mine look like.

Nice job… though I would've used a stronger glue. White and easy to clean up… do you mean Elmer's glue? Cuz that stuff probably isn't the best for this type of project. But still, very cool nonetheless.

Just remember to take it off at night, a no-ghost theft would suck.

Yeah I’m always afraid of people stealing them off the car so whenever I park some place I take them off and put them in the back seat of the car.

The glue is just like Elmer’s but it’s some other brand but basically the same thing. I didn’t think it was strong enough to but I did have the logos completely submerged in water for a few minutes and the glue still held on strong. I didn’t use much glue either just a line of it on each edge of the magnet.

But like I said before I only made these things a few days ago and I still need to test them out more so the glue may need to be upgraded.
