Apparently, Bloomberg has a proposal to shut down twenty NY fire stations, and H&L 8 is on the list.

I don't know. When you're running low on funds all you can really do is cut funding to things. Unless you raise taxes. But nobody is willing to do that so….

No, it would make filming harder because it means they lose a major location of the film. And we don`t know if we`re going to get a third yet, but if something isn`t announced before the year ends it`s probably not gonna happen.

Over at GBfans.com their is a thread like this one under the Ghostbusters tab.

The demonstration on June 3, 2011 which involved FDNY members, city councilors from the districts where the firehouses are slated for closure, and the public was a big step forward to keeping many of the firehouses open.

No word yet from Mayor Bloomberg's office, but I am praying that this gesture will make him reconsider his plans.

PS: Based on the latest rumors online if Ghostbusters 3 is made it looks like it will be coming out in 2013. So hopefully Ladder 8 will still be standing if/when filming in NYC starts.

I am really glad that Hook & Ladder 8 is staying open along with the other 19 fire houses,
not only will Ladder 8 continue to serve the people of Manhattan it will also be their for fans to visit for quite sometime.
