As if we didn't want these bad enough, I just saw this posted over on the hot wheels collectors website by an admin of those forums.

Hey HWC Members,

We're planning on having Ecto 1 out there most of the year but the quantities will not be very high - I'd be surprised if you found them on shelf in an abundance of quantities. It is also very unlikely that the Ecto 1 will then ever make a return to the $1.00 basic car line.

The other members of the site are taking this to mean that there will only by 1 per box. Crud. That makes our hunting more frantic, because we'll be fighting the regular HW scalpers…I mean collectors.

On the subject of the “collectors”, since I have gone in looking for the ecto and asking if they have more in the back, I have gotten some dirty looks from employees. I tell them that I'm a GB fan and am looking for the Ecto, and that I'm not interested in the treasure hunts. I don't think they believe me.

The ONE time I find a car by Hot Wheels worth buying these days, and they make it in low quantities, terrific.

Well if they're going to be out for most of the year I should eventually get one, I'll keep checking the stores time to time. Probably now will be the hardest time, since a lot of people are most likely out to buy themselves one.

The roof rack pops off exposing a window in the roof, so you can look inside the car.

I would suggest going to your local Target store Sat. morning at 8:00am.

I went 4 Targets and found 4 Ecto-1s. Mattel molded the proton packs in the interior.

It's Saturday here and I checked a local Wal-Mart but there was no ECTO-1 there.

1 per box, you mean only 1 ECTO-1 is delivered to each store? Why would they do that? Is there really so few of these available that a store can't have more than a few on sale at a time?

Target stores are getting the E case codes first.

When a case of 72 Hot Wheels are hung on the pegs only 1 of the 72 is an Ecto.

So cases of 72 cars are being delivered to the Target stores and only 1 of those 72 cars is an ECTO-1? How many cases are delivered to each store? Any idea when other stores will be getting cases?

Going to a Target store will be a real pain for me.

The cases are not limited, they only order what they sell. Wal-mart will eventually get the E cases, keep checking. Also Walgreens, O'Rileys auto part stores, & grocery stores also sell hot wheels.

I'm a Hot Wheels collector and Ecto/Ghostbusters collector, I have all my Hot Wheel collector friends collecting the Ecto for me too. I will be willing to share to those who truley can't find one.

I'm also not a scalper.
