ok if venkman doesn't know a thing about ghosts how the heck did he pass college and get a PHD in two subjects!

You know, there are some people in life that have gone through college and still can't read. Besides, he probably just talked his way into a doctorate.

I dunno. I kinda get the impression that Venkman is actually very intelligent. He's just not serious like Ray and Egon. Just look at the way he deals with Peck in his office. He's got that whole "I'm smarter than you, but I just look like an idiot" thing going on.

I remember reading somewhere that Spengler and Stantz, the latter to a lesser degree, “helped” Venkman a lot during the college days.

It's my hypothesis that Venkman, being the sly devil he was, tagged along with Spengler and Stantz into psychology and parapsychology because he knew he could coast into a doctorate with Egon and Ray doing most of his work.

But, just because Venkman may not have done all of his own work, doesn't mean he didn't grasp the concepts; I always imagined he was too busy perfecting “The Venkman Charm” with some co-ed to worry himself too much with school.

Definatly with some help from Egon, I ‘ say. I also strongly agree with withRick’s suggestion of being intelligentbut layed back . That's how he was described in the script if I remember right.
