I wasn't sure if you were exaggerating or not, and by going to IMDB.com I found that you were not exaggerating, that there were in fact four Air Bud movies. The original only made $24 Million in the box office, so why would 3 more be made?

Kevin Zegers, who plays the kid in 3 of these four movies, was also in a movie called MVP: Most Valuble Primate, a movie about a chimp who plays hockey. And there was a sequel. And there's bound to be more.

Will the unoriginality ever end?

Anyway, to the issue of GB3, there's so much more involved to get a GB3 than there is to get an Air Bud. Why? Oh, I shall list just some of the ways…

-Dan and Co. want cast to be same or similar, at least cameos from originals, while in Air Bud, you can have a different kid and a different dog and no one sees a difference, and it gets released anyway.

-Bill Murray owns part of the franchise, as do several others, indicating a co-ownership. Disney is behind Air Bud and will put out sequels until the day I die or Disney dies, whichever comes first, and with no one else's consent.

-The last point ties in to studio interest, where supposedly Sony didn't want to have anything to do with it, and Disney, once again, will have Air Buds coming out of their noses.

Hope that puts things in perspective.

I swear, GBSlimerFan, I asked my parents the same question the other night when my bro and sis were watching the new one. I figured the answer is that you can sell anything to little kids. They bug their parents to get what they want and of course the parents give in. There is your answer.

It is because Air Bud probably only costs a few million to make, and can probably easily make it back. Or the fact that Air Bud is still new and fresh (there is a large amount of the target audience). Or the fact that it is a different production company? That is straight to video? That it is cheaper? That it is a low loss movie? That it is a sure thing?

There is a whole list of differences to consider. It is like comparing apples to oranges.

We need to stop making these, “why are they making movie X and not ghostbusters?” topics.

I'm sure it's not a japanese guy who is making the decision on GB3.

I would imagine that Sony America makes those decisions, seeing as how they must control the American movies they make.

Or maybe not…

1. Being that the Air Bud sequels were straight-to-video movies, that means making them is a whole hell of a lot less money than making a GB3. I don't know about anyone else but I would rather if GB3 actually showed in theaters than a half-budget videotape movie.

2. It's a kid's movie. Movie companies are willing to make tons of sequels to kids' movies because that spells money for them. They made like 20 Land before Time movies.

Look how bad they turned out. Kinda makes it scary if you think a GB3 could be comming out.

If a dog gets old or doesn't want to make movies anymore they can get a suitable replacement. They can't go into the local pound and find another Bill Murray or something smile jk we all love Bill! smile
