How would everyone think of an anime Remake of Ghostbusters

Wow, I'm surprised to see so many against a GB Anime. I personally would love to see an RGB Anime, but no doubt it'll never happen. You guys have quite apparently had some bad experiences with Anime and I can understand why- a lot of the kiddy Anime styles out right now certainly wouldn't be good for GB. But not all Anime is Pokemon and Digimon with big eyes, huge hair and other stuff like that. I don't suppose any of you have seen Cowboy Bebop before? It has incredible animation, as do many other great Anime series. What you see in the more popular kiddy Animes is not representative of Anime as a whole.

What I'd like to see is a new Ghostbusters cartoon animated by Dong Woo Studios. They're the studio behind Men in Black: the series, Masters of the Universe, TMNT, Stripperella, The Batman and Jackie Chan Adventures.

Their style is very fluid, detailed and a perfect blend of both Western and Japanese influences. They brought back both He-Man and the Turtles, I think they'd do just as well with the Ghostbusters.

So Don Woo is the name of the folks behind TMNT. But yes, they are one of the best U.S. animation studios out there and they would do an excellent job on a new GB cartoon.

As long as it doesn't fall into the wannabe anime category (Totally Spies!, AmiYumi Puffy-something and Teen Titans) and uses certain techniques (Like TMNT) then'll it be successful, art-wise.

Nice Jigen avatar by the way.

Nice Jigen avatar by the way.

I tried to get that exact avatar just the other day on this message board but I was unsuccessful. I would just like to state that Lupin the Third is without a doubt the best anime series I have ever seen.

But back to the actual point of this thread;

I have always kind of considered the real ghostbusters series as an anime (compare the animation to the Lupin the third episodes that were released around the same time; they look almost identical). So in that sense, there's no need to re-make Ghostbusters into an anime, see?

Well, I know Dark Horse did a manga style Star Wars series for four of the films a few years back….

I liked those quite a bit.

It'd be possible, if they ever wanted to do it. And cool.

And good anime is anything by Miyazaki.

Or the Vampire Hunter D films.

If the animation looks like the characters we see in the new ghostbusters comic book, I don't mind.

Ah, but you can have good illustration without good animation.

Cases of that are the worst.

At this point I think I would be happy if we could get ANY new animation, but anime might be cool. I dunno though seasons 1 and 2 were very japan-esqe no? Alls I'm saying is with the delay from 88Mph and a shitty (love the new transfers though) DVD “Gift” box, there isn't much to look forward to. no new news on RGB coming to DVD officialy?

I could see the Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli drawing style working out very well. It's recognizable as anime, yet not as ridiculous as Pokemon/Yugioh/Naruto (no offense to anyone here who likes any of the above) is.

Or Yoshitoshi ABe (Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, etc).

A remake of the movies in anime?! NO F'N WAY! One, I don't ever want the movies remade, especially not in anime form. I'd rather a tv show using 3D or normal animation.
