I have a good idea for Ghostbusters 3. Summary.

It's 1999 and the ghostbusters are still strugling to survive in New York. The two towers are still there. Peter is living with Dana…one night Peter goes out with the guys and dicides to take a shortcut, walking home by himself.

He's shot dead by a mass murderer. Fight/struggle.

A week later Peter appears as a ghost ( he looks like the Obi wan Ghost in Empire strikes back-realistic). He speaks to Dana and tells her he was shot and that the ghostbusters must find the killer. he doesn't have the power to appear that often, but is seen for about 30 seconds.

Dana meets with Egon and the ghostbusters…they are trying to contact Peter during a session and he comes thru. Peter tells them the description of the murderer, who is highly wanted by the city.

The murderer is a prince god with the power to bring back the dead. Peter Joins the ghostbusters in GHOST form and battles the Prince God..

Ultimately, the prince god destroys slimer and brings back the stay puft marshmallow man.

Battle breaks out in the streets and two new younger Ghostbusters join the battle. Ecto-1 now has a slime gun that is finally used to destroy the prince.

In the end, we see Peter smiling and saying goodbye to the ghostbusters as he's taken into the light.

No, just no.

Dan himself has said it before, no one dies in Ghostbusters

An absolutely terrible idea.

Not only does it borrow too much from Ghost, but it comes off as too dark a narrative for the Ghostbusters franchise.

Ghostbusters is a light family comedy. Although it has a horror element it should never include murder. It's far too dark, violent and sad for a film such as Ghostbusters.

Besides, the idea sounds almost identical to the 1990 film “Ghost” starring Patrick Swayze.

Nobody should get killed in a Ghostbusters film. Ghostbusters is a light comedy, not a dark comedy.

that why it could work. I just came up with this idea cause Bill was being a dick about it and said he wanted to die, so I gave him a compasionate goodbye at the end and a role as a ghost. Yeah, it's kinda like ghost, and it could work. I yet to see what harold ramis may think…I think it would be funny to have peter's ghost appearing behind someone's back and going “BOOOO”. you know?

I agree that Venkman being a ghost would no doubt have its funny moments but I don't think that it should be done for Ghostbusters III. For one thing, this idea has been used in various films already such as Ghost, Beetleguise and The Frighteners so it's not exactly new or original. For another I personally would much rather see Venkman alive throughout the film rather than dead.

If Venkman was to become a ghost I think that it would be far more suitable for him to have died in some kind of accident rather than have been murdered.

Sorry but this idea is just downright terrible.

Venkman being killed by a mass murderer? No. Absolutely way too dark for a comedy like Ghostbusters. Keep in mind, this is still going to be marketed as a movie that children can go to. Venkman “going out with the guys” then having a “fight/struggle with a mass murderer” is WAY too much.

Let alone, you make no explanation for why he can suddenly appear and fight with the Ghostbusters, when earlier in the movie he “wasn't powerful enough to appear very often”.

Just seems like pretty much what it is… not very well thought out fan fiction. Just my opinion.

Egon gives peter a special proton pack that gives him phenomenal supernatural energy, charging his protoplasm levels.

Like I said, it was a basic summary…or do you want me to send you the whole script?

and why is the mass murder idea so off? he could get shot just like peter parkers uncle in spiderman.

and then we're going *kind of* into “The Other Side” with Super Ghost-Peter

and yes, Ben Parker's murder was a plot point in the original mythos, always has been, always will.

Murder and mass killing spree demons don't fit in the genre of Ghostbusters.

Yes, some ghosts are souls of the dead (Scoleri Bros for example), but they weren't killed for the plot of the movie….

And even the idea of killing Venkman was nothing more than a joke that Murray said some time ago…

he has gone on to say he didn't mean it as anything more than that. a joke.
