I know Halloween is a ways away but...

A pair of gray dickies coveralls wouldn't cost that much, compared to actual flight suits. GBFans sell the most accurate patches for decent prices. I like this site as well -http://www.scifigeeks.com/index.php/cPath/4324_4325_5595 I've purchased several products from there in the past, and I liked what I got. Though now they have “screen accurate” patches. The prices are pretty good on that site as well.

This may help - http://www.amazon.com/Dickies-Deluxe-Sleeve-Coverall-Regular/dp/B001A408GG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304119341&sr=8-1

I get a lot of my stuff from amazon. Heck you may be able to find stuff with better prices if you look around a little bit. Also, like I said do what you want to do. Don't worry about if people are gonna get what you're dressed up as.

I decided to buy some Ghostbusters pins and put them on the lab jacket. It sometimes gets pretty warm around Halloween where I live so I don't want to wear a jump suit to work (I have to spend an hour or more collecting carts at my job). I would be really sweaty and stinky if I wore coveralls outside.

You could just cover yourself with Saran Wrap, hot glue, and glitter and be Gozer since you don't want to wear all the heavy clothes…

I'm wanting to put together a Ghostbusters costume. To me the suits look gray in the movie, yet on eBay or where ever I only find sage green or tan suits. Does anyone know where I can find a suit more like the color from the movie? And what color is it called?

The suits in the movies were dyed, so to get one that looks screen accurate you'll have to dye a Nomex suit. Most people opted for Pearl Rit Grey, if I'm not mistaken.

The only part of the Nomex suits that will really absorb the dye is the velcro; all you'll be able to do to the fabric is tint it. The change isn't obviously noticeable, but I did this with mine and like the way it came out.

Well here's how I ended up.

Were the buttons not lining up and the amount of dirt on the jacket intentional? If so, that's pretty out of character for Egon.

If that's just a budget costume, and that labcoat was all you could find, then nice work.

The finished effect comes off more as a random mad scientist than Egon Spengler (I know you're wearing a bunch of Ghostbusters pin badges, but they just don't work).

I think if you'd had a blue labcoat, PKE Meter, and wire-rim glasses you would've stood a better chance of emulating him without having a Ghostbusters jumpsuit.

This is a very good summary of what I wanted to say but was too tired to put into words.
