I know I'll catch hell for this but...

I think they should just leave it all alone. I would love to see a third movie, but at the same time look at what time we live in… We live in a time where the remake movies or just rehash old ideas. Its kinda like how Lucas is semi-screwing up the Star Wars franchise. It was said in another post how they all are old now. I love them all, but yeah… They are old. And not only that, they don't seem to be close at all. I don't know if they ever were that close, but they were close enough in the 80s to do the first two movies. Now there seems to be so much political BS that in the end it would hurt the film. In a perfect world the Ghostbusters would come back just one more time to save the world. But I think it is better if we just wonder what could have been. So go on and bitch me out now! haha

I can understand your argument. It seems almost a forgone conclusion that if Ghostbusters III was released nowadays that it would just be another one of those rehash movies. At the same time, I don't think that it would be comparable to the likes of Dukes of Hazzard or Starsky and Hutch as the actors, writers, directors and producers were completely different from the original ones. I know what you mean about Star Wars. I have never been a fan of Star Wars but even I have noticed the difference between the originals and todays. They're far too special effects dominated which chaged the overall look and feel of the movie for the worse.

I think that if Ghostbusters III is made the producers could well end up making some of the mistakes that George Lucas did with Star Wars. This is why I think it is important to use the same direction and cinematography, and although Ghostbusters is partly an SFX film it would be temping, especially with todays technology, for the script writer and sfx team to saturate it with special effects scenes which may dilute the story. It should not be laden with SFX. The other reason the new Star Wars movies were not seen to be as good as the originals is mainly to do with the characters. The new characters just weren't as likable or as interesting as Han Solo or Luke so it goes without saying that if Ghostbusters III is released the original actors must be used.
