I think the idea behind Egon is, he sometimes tries to use everyday language but it never comes out the way it should. Which is why the “your mother!” thing sounds out of place. He doesn't know how to use it!:-)

Here in México is very usual to refer to “your mother” when it´s an insult… and as Ropzu said, let´s not get too specific on this theme.

I always thought he was so pissed he just kinda gets halfway and doesn't keep going, distracted by the scuffling with Peck and the cops.

“Your mom” is a frequent joke, often used as an insult or to say “you're full of shit”.

In this case, its a joke within a joke, as Egon says “mother” instead of “mom” because he's too formal and high-brow for the joke in the first place.

I think we just missed the second half of the sentence. Your mother may have only been the beginning of it.
