He was at Binion's Casino in Las Vegas promoting his new vodka.
The ad I saw said he was going to be there from 3-5, but he didn't show up until 5. I had to pick up my girlfriend, so I figured that I was going to miss him. I got there at 3:30, and waited until 5, as I had to go.
Turns out he showed up at 5. I tried to say “hello”, but his bodyguard said he was “decompressing” after his day (whatever that meant).
He left, and I almost missed him, but I dashed through the casino to catch up to him. The bodyguard remembered me, and asked Dan to stop as the guy had remembered me waiting for a while. Nice bodyguard.
I shook Dan's hand, got a photo, and he autographed the locker part of my 12 inch Ray Stantz figure. I literally had a minute to catch him before the opportunity was lost, and I think I'm one of the very few who actually got to talk to him. But it was cool, and he was gracious enough to take time out for me, which was really appreciated.
Thanks, Dan (and Dan's bodyguard)! I went back to the area after dinner at the casino's cafe, and thanked the guy for looking out for me. I think he could tell I really wanted to meet Dan.
Well, between meeting him,
and Ernie Hudson about 5 years ago, I've met 50% of the team. Bill and Harold, our paths will cross one day….
