I think they should

I know I've read some people bitching on here about folks who only use the proton stream instead of slime tether on those levels and for those folks, I have to say screw you. I'm a purist and I just love being able to shoot that proton stream and wrangle the ghosts into the trap instead of slime tethering them. Slime tethering just seems like cheating to me. Don't get me wrong, I'll use ST if I have to, but its not my preferred method of playing. After all, slime tether is more of a competitive weapon as opposed to proton stream which allows everybody to throw a stream on the ghost and get the combo bonus when playing. If you wanna use ST, why not ST the ghost to a wall to knock em down to 0% health, then let everybody get their PS on the ghost and trap em? What? That takes too long? You don't want anybody else to get a stream on and get a combo bonus? You selfish prick. People who primarily use the ST when I play with them, they never revive teammates and are just generally not team players because they also run around grabbing EVERY SINGLE POWER UP instead of sharing them with the team.

Of course the downside to the proton stream with people online is some of them think you have to pull the slam trigger constantly so its almost like they are jerking off with the ghost. I wish slam was not unlimited in online mode. The folks i've played with who slam continuously are almost or just as bad as the folks who use nothing but ST and bitch about people like me who want to use the proton stream and try to let everybody get in on the trap action.

Sorry bout the long ranting post but dammit, I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I agree with you. When I started out online I loathed slime tether because people would use it selfishly to try and secure the most points for themselves. I think slime tether takes a lot of fun out of the experience and creates competition in what is an otherwise cooperative activity.

Unfortunatley, I found out it is rather hard to actually win a match without using the tether, specifically containment. In most all cases I could never beat that level because you can't trap ghosts fast enough without slime. Containment usually always comes up in a campaign so I started specializing in it to try and beat it. Tether is also a lifesave in survival.

My strategy always with the tether is to slam ghosts into the ground, throw a wrangle stream, and give eveyone else the oppurtunity to guide it into the trap. However, I imagine its frustrating for others when I knock all the ghosts out as soon as they appear and all thats left is to capture them. But my intent is to try to help the team.

I feel bad when I accidently tether something right into a trap. Although when other people on the team just do it on purpose all the time I can get a little irked and tether one in myself… Anyways the point is slime tehter causes trouble and can ruin the team experience. One of my wishes for a sequel would be to just get rid of it all together and make game modes that don't require it to be successful.

I definetly agree with that. Like I said, I'll use ST when I have to. In Containment you pretty much have to use it in order to get to the end. Thats why I wish there was another version tailor made for using the proton stream more often. But I wish more folks played like you do.

I like the idea of playing as the rookie, it makes you feel as if it's YOU who has been recruited by the Ghostbusters, rather than just playing of one of the current Ghostbusters. One of the things that was annoying was:

YAY! Ecto 1! What? you mean I can't drive it!?

You can drive it in the DS version, but you'd think that the more powerful versions on the PS3 and Xbox would let you drive it.

That would be a good level(s) though. You'd need some good quotes to go with it, like:

Ray: Hey, rookie, how'd you like a drive in Ecto 1?
Rookie: *nod*
Ray: Remember, a red light means GO aswell!

Then there would be quotes when you crash etc:

Ray: Watch Ecto! She was built in 1959, and parts aren't easy to come by!
Peter: Cool it Ray, i'm sure those scratches will buff out.

Those are some pretty cheesy quotes… I would hope they would come up with something better than “Red means go as well”.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be able to drive Ecto-1B too, but I just don't like the quotes you thought up.

Yeah, I agree. My quotes are rubbish! But it's not my job to write the Ghostbusters script!

But, you get my point overall?
