I don't know if this interview with Dan Aykroyd has already been posted on here, but I took a quick look and couldn't find it anywhere.

What a ripoff.

It's really unfair to the people who are buying these games to bill this game as “script written by Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd”, when in actuality all they really did was edit the script on a budget.

It is relieving to know that all of the dumb shit coming out of Venkman's mouth wasn't entirely written by Ramis and Aykroyd. Holy shit is Peter Venkman's character horrible in this game.

From my remembrance I seem to remember an interview that was out well before the game was out that stated that someone at TR wrote a outline of the story and what was going to happen and then (Dan and Harold) wrote much, if not all, of the dialogue of the game on a second pass of the script and reworked the some of the story and dialogue to fit.

What the heck does it matter? It was a pretty good story and the dialogue was good. That “stupid” stuff you mentioned coming out of Venkman's mouth was spot on Venkman

i already knew they didnt write the script entirely themselves, it was noted a long time ago.

wouldnt have changed my mind on buying the game… because once the gameplay heats up i forget all about what the last Buster said in the last cut scene.

Venkman was just as much a slimy jerk in the films as he is in the game.

The reason he seems worse now is because in the films, we got to see him genuinely try to be romantic or caring when he and Dana were alone. There are no scenes in the game that we actually get to see where Pete and Illysa are alone, because all the times that's happening, you're either wandering the firehouse or busting ghosts with the other guys.

It's also possible he doesn't actually care about Illysa that much, Dana's the only one he really opened himself up to and it keeps crashing and burning, so now he's just looking for a booty call.

Personally I think he is still recovering from the (I assume) dumpage by Dana and like Razor said…doesn't care about her and is looking for a Booty Call which would explain why he walked away at the end after Slimer slimed her
