A manifestation of the original brought on by the big bad… whether it appeared from thin air or the new ‘big bad’ reanimated ectoplasmic marshmallow that'd accumulated in the sewars.

Maybe the Return of Gozer? :-O Or In some sort of flash-back, made into a part of the game, you play as one of the guys, and take on (^_^) and/or Gozer.

I think what ever is the “big bad” of the game, as Ben put it, will bring him back.

Mhh, after gb1, the city cleaned everything and stored, like the ghostbusters asked, the “marshmallow” in some specialy designed anti-ectoplasmic containers. The containers were buried in the ground but the supernatural activity found the site and destroyed the units. :p

A million cans of Marshmallow Fluff (TM) gone bad are infused with negative PKE in a horrific accident, and coalesce into Mr. Stay Puft.

And I always thought ordinary Marshmallow Fluff was bad… (*_*)

thats what i was thinking but the charactor you play would have been in the first movie and they would be shooting at the doors of the temple not stay-puft himself.. yet another dimension might open up sending the guys back in time to the first movie

Well, seeing how stay puff and goser were never trapped, my guess would be, that they were simply vaporised from THIS PLANE OF EXISTANCE and that they returned to the ghost world and drew strength and re appear.

I would laugh my ass off with glee if they just simply bust Stay Puft out of the Containment Unit.

I have heard from early descriptions of the game that Stay Puft returns due to a peak in PKE energy that brings back some of the ghosts from the first movie. TR has gone on to say that Gozer is coming back, and Stay Puft is one of his formations.. (which.. I feel is horribly wrong).

Looks like he will completely torment you as you work your way up to the top of a highrise building.
