the year is 1995 and new york hasn't encounted any ghost since 1991 and the Ghostbusters is forced to quit but later someone finds pandoras box and unleash ancient evil that threatens new york and only ghostbusters can save the day.

I think you can start it many different ways and be okay.
I just asked that they avoid the two pitfalls that have plagued this franchise.
1. A desire to put Ghostbusters out of business and have them start over again (GB2, EGB and possibly GB3).
2. A desire to replace the main characters with a new team.
I've never seen a franchise quite like Ghostbusters in the sense that they stumbled on to a great formula (which isn't easy) only to have so many follow-up ideas that are hell bent on destroying the formula.
I just asked that they avoid the two pitfalls that have plagued this franchise.

How about this for a new series idea?
It is 1985, and it has been 6 months since Gozers defeat. The new series follows the Ghostbusters as their initial fame fades and they returned to the regular chore of busting ghosts on a daily basis all…and as the team is run ragged by an ever increasing surge of supernatural and paranormal occurrences that plague the city and of something bigger begin to show…the busters begin to wear thin on each other…causing a rift between them that not even crossing the streams can close.
Can the Ghostbusters over come these obstacles, renew their team, and save the day one more time? Only a 26 episode series and possible multiple seasons can tell…
I would also love to see the entire surviving cast of RGB come back and do the voices…that includes Arsenio Hall over Buster Jones…as I don't think Arsenio is up to much these days…and Laura Summer over Kath Soucie. It is unfortunate that we have no alternative for Dave Coulier but I can live with him; I mean after all he wasn't that bad but Lorenzo Music was better.
