Just saw the news over on the IDW forums that they have obtained the license for Jurassic Park.

They plan to kick it off with a 5 issue story arc regarding the opening of a new park, picking up around 10 years after the first book/movie, following Lex and Tim.

They are scheduled to get the first issue out in June (Same month as the official plan for GB: CON-volution). I'll admit, I'm kind of excited about this. They are also bringing in Frank Miller and others to do some of the alternative covers.

The news story also confirmed that they have the rights to the old TOPPS JP comics and they will reprint them in paperback trades.

Sweet. Sounds interesting enough to perk my interest. Smells like a new movie is around the corner too I might add.

I believe they were on track to do a fourth JP, but after the death of Michael Crighton, they decided to let it be.

So, these new “owners” of the rights can do whatever they want?

Last I heard in Feb, the 4th one is still on and in the script writing stage.

Over in the IDW forums, someone posted a quote from a news article back in January that JP4 was in the script writing stage, and it is currently planned to be the first in another “triology” focusing on a new park.

I look forward to this comic series, I'm a huge JP fan and it's great to see it getting something new.
