If GB3 is made, what logo should they go with?

Search your news papers and you'll probably find a lot of people who declare themselve capable of exorcising, removing an enchantment, or cleaning a place of what is haunting it. It's the same story repeating itself since the dark age. Today, the technology creates new company who also declare themselve capable of finding paranormal activity. Who knows if some don't push the limit to say they can clean the place too.

Sorry, it always take time for me to write in english.

Well, regardless of whether being an official extension of the government of the City of New York would grant them shiny metal badges, I'm not really sure it'd work well as a movie logo for posters, TV, the internet, coffee mugs and for scaling down to a really small size.

I agree for the coffee mug. I'm confused about the internet and tv thing. But as poster, it can be good.

As a poster, it looks exactly like what it is… a poor Photoshop job. Sorry, I'm not tryin to be a jerk, but come on. A badge pasted over the NYC skyline does not look good, as anything, let alone a poster for a 3rd movie.

Well I was far from trying to make “the” commercial poster here; I threw this to show it can have a nice look as a poster. I think someone who knows the film without being a fan would be surprised to discover how far the company is now, only by the look of this badge. But that's my opinion. I would prefer a more chaotic look on the city and the sky, with waves of paranormal activity flying in it.

I think there was too many charlatans in the past and still too many today. But these guys are for real and you need to show this quality.

Also, the Ghostbusters received many negative publicity and doubt back then; I think the city would want to make it clear that these guys are to be taken seriously… considering the fact that some people today still believe that Earth is flat, that we never walked on the moon, and that no planes crashed on September 11. I'm sure the statue of liberty changed the general opinion in gb2, but those with doubts can still influence the public; it's a ghostbuster company after all. This badge would be a good move from the city to authentic the ghostbuster's professionalism.

As a company dealing with dangerous unknown phenomenons, and recognized by the city, you need to be able to close instantly the zone you want to the public when needed. For that you need to have some authority and this badge represents also the city behind you.

Ghostbusters is a “cleaning service” but it's far from dealing with “trash”. People who deal with paranormal activity cannot be considered as “regular men” with an ordinary “cleaning job”. They can be almost considered a mix of police department and firefighter; they extinguish the “fire” in one place, capture its factor and imprison it after; it's a dangerous job, a level under or above the police/fire department, which gives to the metallic badge all its meaning.

If it's not enough then I'll say that Peter Venkman would demand recognition for the company's professionalism and support over the years, asking to be officially a part of the city's security services. If he's not receiving it, I guess he would order those shiny badges to not only congratulate the efforts of its team, but to heal the wound made by the fact that saving life doesn't make you a superstar or someone more respected. This badge would represent all the hard work made.
IMHO, their arm patches are all the badges they need! Adding a metal badge whold really “cheese” it up, if you think about it.

My point was, as a requirement of any logo it has to be legible at any size, and, on any background. My concern would be that such a badge backing would be far too complex for a number of the uses it would be utilised for.

I completly agree with you. This badge cannot be used in a univers like Ghostbusters 1 & 2. It need a different atmosphere, where a lot of actions take place, where there's no place for relationship scenes, main character or leading role, where the sense of humor is fair but effective, and where a new countdown begins after solving a mystery or a problem.

What?

No relationship scenes? I'm going to assume you mean no love stories, cuz developing relationships between the characters is vital.

The humor is fair? As in not as present as the past movies? Bad idea.

Countdown begins after solving a mystery or problem? …………….. What the hell are you talking about?

Of course, we need verbal exchange between the characters, but we know them, no need to slow on them or their recruits and waste precious scenes to see them get closer. They are like family, we know this already, now there's a big mystery happening in the city and the movie needs to follow all its consequences and them on that.
