Robotics…

Many universities and companies have based their work off of many movie used robots, not to mention they have studied them closely. You must have a very small mind for things like these. So what, it doesnt have to be a movie prop but if you would have patience something like it will be developed. All the proton pack is is a small nuclear accelerator, maybe even more then that. Whoever said they were going to go around chasing ghosts anyway? All I heard is if someone put it together right would it work regardless of what purpose.

Try using your imagination and thought process a little more often, dont just agree with someone that doesnt really care if it matters or not.

Nothing is impossible, only mathematically improbable.

You did pass math, right?

Ecto-3, I wasn't trying to get nasty.

And please, don't insult my intelligence. “Small mind” was quite offensive to me. As well as insulting my imagination when you know nothing about me. I have quite an imagination, and love the ghostbusters, but I also have a logical mind and try to keep it in check.

You're treating me like I'm closed-minded and stupid. I don't deserve it.

I'll say robotics were a pretty good example. But I would assume robotics originated in the field of science. You may be right about how certain movies got some people thinking…I'm sure they have.

It's just that the technology like Proton Packs, used for “busting” ghosts, would not only involve getting a nuclear accelerator, but it would also involve much research in the field of the paranormal, and trying to make the connection between using a nuclear accelerator, and using it to catch ghosts. Unlike in the movies, there is not ample proof that suggests that ghosts are easily seen, and as those in the field of paranormal investigation would know, they are not easily hunted and chased.

If someone wants to have a nuclear accelerator and shoot it around for whatever reason, that's fine. And it's probably not far off.

As for what's impossible? Once again, I didn't say that. I happen to believe it is mathematically improbable. That would make sense for anything, I suppose.

When I said it's not real, it's just a movie, I was referring to paranormal eliminators. There are investigators, but not eliminators. Not to my knowledge. And not to say there may never be.

Did I pass math? I happen to be a very good math student. But you wouldn't believe an unimaginative, stupid math student about that, would you?

I try to respect people on this board, but you know, it's hard when someone disrespects you and it's totally uncalled for.

All I've been trying to say is that this whole board, this whole site, this whole community was started because of this movie. Period. It's a movie. Pursue the nuclear accelerators all you want.

ecto-3, I hope we can be friends at some point. I really do. I hope to be friends with everyone on this site. It's a wonderful and strong community. If we can get past that little disrespect you just gave me, which was totally uncalled for, I'd like to be your friend. We could probably have some great ghostbusters discussions. And I'm serious about that.

And I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. I was stating my perspective.

I'm done now.

i guess i was asking a pretty stupid question but can anyone tell me the materials needed for making the proton pack? thanks.

Let's all stop for a second!

“Ray_” What do you want? Plans to build a non-functioning, “prop” that you can sit and adore? Or a Nuclear Linear Accelerator?

Simple Question, Simple Answer. I like that. Now, I'm not calling you an idiot or an under achiever, so some of what I said was out of line. Usually people shrug it off and fire back but if you take offense then sorry. I really think this subject does need to be toned down a little anyway because its starting to get really rediculous wink

whats so ridiculous about asking for plans for a non-functioning proton??

to add one more thing, correct me if im wrong but, we are able to make a Pack sized reactor like we need yet, when we turn it on it would fry us…kinda like when you touch a uranium poll. Personally if they did have the ability to make a pack in the first place we would already have done and guess who would have it? That right the military.

If the packs would fry people when they turned it on then it would fry our soldiers! smile

The military doesnt need anything like that anyway wink

And on another note I didnt say it was ridiculous to ask for plans for a pack.

1. It is possible to get Nuclear materials, you just need some cash….You know Russia can't keep up with their stuff…

2. If you were able to make a reactor taht small, you would have to test alot….And if you do one thing wrong you take out a couple of city blocks or more…depending on city of course…

3.I seriously doubt anyone could do this without proper facilities, and I don't think teh average Joe could afford those…

Just my 2 cents…
