If you want spoofs, get Wierd Al Yankovich, but I think Metalica would rock! You might however consider someone with more class, not for a remake of Ray Parkers song, but let's say Vangelis to make some Cheriots of Fire kinda sound for the grand finale? But hey, that's just me. You can get Britney if you wanna, but I'm not buying it then!

I think they should do for the soundtrack of the movie, the same thing the done with XxX….divide the soundtrack in 2 kind of music.

“oh c'mon you guys, you gotta have Billy Corgan do some stuff”
“The Pumpkins broke up YEARS ago”
He said Billy Corgan, not The Pumpkins, and yes, he has his own new band out there now

I know its probably dumb, but I think System of a Down could do a good redo of the Original Ray Parker jr. Song, Maybe even have Pearl Jam do some songs.

The aspect of having a Ghostbusters 3 album is irrelevant to begin with if there is no indication of a film.
I recall about seven years ago when it was believed Chris Farley and Will Smith would be possible contenders for a third installment. Unfortunately, Farley died and the notion was a bad idea to begin with as the most loyal of fans would prefer the original cast.
If there was a third, hopefully all four ghostbusters would be present and director Reitman.
The first Ghostbusters soundtrack was well done but it would have to be conceptually focused towards the movie.

I am new to this web site. Why don't you criticize those who swear? (more than those who are inacurrate to matching the exact categories). At least I don't stoop the that level.
There will be no Ghostbusters 3 soundtrack without having a film first. It is impossible. The music towards the film would be of small significance (provided there is one).
The score would matter a lot more. The 14 year wait for another Gostbusters film (yes, I mention film because you will not have a sountrack without a movie slatewd for release) and soundtrack by now would already likely prove to be a dissappointment.
But if there was one, I would wish to have Mr. Reitman's input on it and possibly Michael Kamen / Steve Lillywhite / Nile Rodgers work on the structure and juxtapositions of the music so that it's texture flows in contrast with the film's varied mood.
Lillywhite would have credit to his name since he produced for the thompson twins “in the name of love” in 1982 which is on the original film's soundtrack.
