“it just popped in there”

While i was scrollin down reading the message board disscussions , something just “ popped in there” , i thought instead of a sequal(since every body is bent on it) why not make a special edition re-release in theaters like StarWars did in ‘97, with new and restored added scenes, modern special effects( not judging the original effects which were great), and all restored in THX. Who thinks this should happen ? I damn well do !, the SW:Special Edition gave StarWars a great comeback, May be the same could happen to Ghostbusters! Who’s with me?

well two things, id love to see it happen, but ghostbusters has a less populated crowd of fans than star wars, side murry would stand in the way along with SONY, but it would be awsome!, sadly i dont think it will happen… BUT WE CAN HOPE!! smile

You are forgeting, Star Wars actually had pertinent scenes and lots of room for special effect improvement. What could they do with Ghostbusters? I'm not one to see a computer generated Slimer. It looses the cartoonish apearance that made it so comedic.

I'm not saying that it will happen, i'm just saying it would be cool2 to see the 1st & 2nd ghostbusters in theaters and get a come back , like star wars did in '97

Actually, there was real discussion about this very subject.
Back in ‘99 there were plans to release the DVDs simultaneously with a 15th anniversary re-release of the original.
Then there were possible plans to release a Ghostbusters 3 right after.
As you know, this never happened, although there’s still chance for a 20th anniversary edition in 2004.
One way of putting it: 1999 was supposed to be the “year of the ghostbuster.” But it never was.
This stuff can be found on an article on this site, I can't remember where or which one, so you'll have to do some searching around.
Alright, I'm done. smile
