If there was a live action GB series made?

I can't believe I never thought about this concept before! It would have to be done right that's a given. It shouldn't be corny, cartoony or conflicting with the movies. It should make reference to the movies, what about the twinkee? Not too much CGI's I'd like to see some practical sfx like the first two. I liked EGB, not a RGB but wasn't bad. GB3 should be released first and have the show take off of it, not a cliff hanger ending but us the rookies as the main characters (spelling sucks) and the old GBs should not make any appearences unless they're the orginal actors but should be occasionally talked about, i.e. what would Spengler do? Lots of busts, but show the lives of the new GBs what they do off duty, their family interactions and so on. A new version of the theme is a must, don't get me wrong I love the orginal but it does need to be updated. Slimer has to be involved. Also Stargate, Buffy, Star Trek and other shows have big budgets so why not GB? I think I've over stayed my welcome so now it's time to go.

Actually, there was a live action show in the 70's called “The Ghostbusters”. It was the inspiration for the Filmation Ghostbusters cartoon series. The characters were supposed to be the fathers of the main characters in the Filmation cartoon.

If it was gonna get too expensive to do a GB live action show, they could always cut down on special effects, and get a couple schmoes to play ghosts. It would, at least, give the show camp, a la the 1960s Batman. :d But whatever it takes, it would be a good idea.

THAT'S A FASCINATING IDEA!!! :0 :O

It we did that, maybe we could have some of the writers from Buffy. Infact it would be a little bit like that, only it would be Science VS. The Paranormal, because it's Ghostbusters. Of course we'd have RGB writers, too. Like J. Michael Straczynski. It makes me wonder, would the jumpsuits be RGB or Movie GB? If they did do this, they couldn't use Hook & Ladder 8. But they could build an exact replica of H&L 8's exterior, and the outside surroundings on a studio lot. :s :d They could also build an exact replica of the LA firehouse's interior. It would be interesting to see this done. I'd like to see the original equipment and characters, though (You know, Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dr. Raymond Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, and Janine Melnitz, Louis Tully, and Slimer.). Of course, the original actors couldn't be playining these parts for several reasons: They're getting pretty old, They look different, They're busy with other projects, and the characters would be younger, like they were on the Movie and on RGB. Take a look at these links:

I see a few good candidates for it.

A Ghostbusters live action show could be a huge hit. If the people involved care enough to keep the show true to the source material of the films(kind of the approach Red Ketchup is taking with his revival, what ever form it takes). The plot of GB3 could easily be adapted to a two-hour premire episoe. With Egon and Ray training the new Ghostbusters.
With the right actors, the right writers and the right fx guys, it would definately work.
Hell, if Dan Ackroyd can to that 1/2 hour paranormal show, he can get this done.

I hate to tell you guys but a pilot for “Ghostbusters: The Series” was made in 1994. It aired on the Sci-Fi Channel after the crappy Mantis Man show. I dont know why no one on this site recalls it? I mean..good lord man. It was only the best pilot of a Sci-Fi show ever made. Also it's got a good chance of being aired again and re-done if Tremors:The Series succeeds in the ratings.

Brendan - I don't recall there every being talk of a TV series, other than Rick Moranis joking that it should be a series during the GB2 video press pack. Where did you hear about a proposed series?

EctoSlick - The reason no one has heard of it probably has something to do with the fact that there never was a series pilot movie on The Sci-Fi Channel. Again, where did you hear about this?

And this thread has gone on for awhile now, but I'll direct everyone to this thread. It may provide some extra insight into the discussion.
