Irvin Kershner, the man responsible for the best Star Wars film in the franchise, and arguably one of the best films of all time has passed away at the age of 87. Whoa, what a shitty week.

R.I.P. He was an awesome director and seemed so nice from interviews he did. Sad he's passed

His work was awesome. Without him the Star Wars Saga wouldn't be that memorable, and Robocop 2 was such an awesome and dark sequel, almost superior to the first.

Rest in peace

Imagine how awesome Return of the Jedi would have been with him at the helm.

Yeah. Richard Marquand also passed away some time ago. He wasn't in the same league as Kershner.

Remember after Phantom Menace came out, and there was that on-line petition to get Lucas to tap Kershner to direct Attack of the Clones?

If only…!
