Is "Hellboy 1 & 2" this generations version of "Ghostbusters"?

I mean, both movies are similar to “Ghostbusters 1 & 2” as they are horror-fantasy-comedy movies that deal with a group of spirit-fighters that battle against the supernatural and evil beings.

…and the sequel wasn't nearly as good as the original? I can definately see some parellels, but I can't say they're this generation's Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.

Unfortunately we're not seeing BPRD shirts and posters everywhere. I can kind of see it with MIB being the 90's one.

Well both movie franchises do have H.P. Lovecraft-esque themes to them.
