It seems like Sierra/Vivendi is running into some issues with this Activison merger. Hope this doesn't mean any complications for Ghostbusters:

I will be PISSED if Activision causes any problems for the Ghostbusters game, but that goes without saying, really.

Ghostbusters should be safe as long as doesn't get delayed.

should be fine, the game has been offically announced way before this activision blizzard hoopla was set on the table and as stated in the article:

“Supposedly Sierra titles that are scheduled to release this year will remain safe, but Fritz asserts that the security of titles beyond 2008 are TBD.”

plus game pre-orders can be found at game stores so the worst that could really happen at this point would be that it gets delayed for some random reason, and thats not too bad :p

no worries people (*peter) :p

Not only that, but given the level of hype that's surrounded the game and the fact all the important cast members are in and that Sony is giving the game its blessing, Activision would be fools to change something in it now.

But this is why I think it should be made a standard contract agreement that any game in production at the time of a merger has to be completed regardless of the personal preference or taste of the buyer. It's a huge waste of manhours and resources, and would be hugely demoralising to work on a game for several odd year only for it to be cancelled by someone buying the company.
