It would be great if it did, but with all that has gone on between Dan and Columbia, it doesn't look good.
Also Bill not wanting to let them make it is another problem. Thats too bad.

I think it's sad that a concept that Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis came up with, developed, and wrote stories for is owned by people other than them. It's too bad too because I think that Ghostbusters, if given the chance to have a sequel not released next to say Batman or something of that sort, would do much better now than in the 80's… of course, it would need a small amount of updating to catch phrases and such… oh well, maybe it will, but most likely it won't. Guess we'll have to stick to fan fiction, fan movies, and fan cartoons because the GB franchise seems to be, as far as new things is concerned, dead.

Sure gb3 would be awesome, but we must face the fact that today's generation doesn't care about things those born in the 80's grew up with. Even half the people I know who grew up fans are beginning to lose interest. We need to face the fact that if they did do it, it would be very expensive and probably would only appeal to devout fans. Bill Murray is only trying to protect his investment. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it, but it probably won't happen unless we demand it by sending letters to Murray. Actually, Ghostbusters is becoming retro now.
Just check out Hot Topic.
I would bet right now that if they had waited until now for Extreme Ghostbusters, that it would have done better than it did.
Some old fans may have lost interest, but Ghostbusters will always gain some new fans because Ghostbusters is such an amazing, fun concept.
4 guys hop into their built up Cadillac Ambulance, looking for Ghosts to Shoot with awesome Proton Packs and Catch with awesome Ghost Traps.
That's mainly why Ghostbusters lives on. The concept and the characters developed for it.
Anyway, that's my two cents.
