whoa. hopefully Ivan can do it. :-)

edit: just a thought, as Danny said that everyone has moved on, I"m guessing Ivan will get a brand new spanking pack of new GB's and stick the originals as a cameo or so. OR one or two of the original GBs can help the new guys out.. i.e think Extreme GB of how Egon still stayed behind and helped the new GBs out. hmmm I don't know.. just a thought.

Interesting, but probably taken out of context once again. Danny has said it ain't happening, that's good enough for me.

Quite, it's a new rumour but it's hardly promicing stuff we didn't expect.

It remains to be seen that it's anything more then vaporware… even if it supposedly got reported in the Washington Post.

There's a great deal of irony that no one on the two main GB message boards read Proton Charging.

Ghostbusters 3 is coming back in 2008. Theres a proof GB3 article saying that GB3 was dead now it's back. I'm glad that Ivan wants to do a third GB film because he did both films. The info is under the GB Net! There are Cool GB3 posters for the third film in 2008! If you have any Info please email me back!
Thanks,
Patrick
PS. Why would someone make up a lie about GB3 coming back because this is new info and Ben Stiller will be replacing Bill Murray so thats why!

If this truly did come from reitmans lips then this is promising news.

However it is somewhat of a contradiction for anyone who's seen the Aykroyd interview with entertainment weekly. He himself only a month ago said that it's not happening and that he's moved on.

Is this what has pushed Reitman to look into the legal situation with Ghostbusters? I think maybe.

But if Sony don't want it to happen then they don't want it to happen. Sony have said that they don't think the profits from a third movie would match the production costs. Unless Reitman and co can make Sony agree on a contract by either offering a far cheaper script to produce or alternatively making the actors take significant pay cuts, I don't see how they can talk Sony round financially.

I've just read that Reitmans latest movie “My Super Ex Girlfriend” has bombed at the box office. This will only make it more difficult for Reitman to convince Sony of allowing him to make a third Ghostbusters film. It's a shame though because it actually looks like a pretty good movie, but in Hollywood, money talks.

The greatest failure of the weekend, though, was director Ivan Reitman's My Super Ex-Girlfriend, which extracted $8.6 million from 2,702 sites. Distributor 20th Century Fox said that the audience was evenly comprised of both genders and 59 percent was over 25.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend's combination of romantic comedy and superhero antics, handled awkwardly in the marketing, proved a turn-off for followers of either genre—there's never been a successful superhero comedy (outside of family movies) and the sub-genre is characterized by such failures as Mystery Men and Blankman. Making matters worse, Ex-Girlfriend star Uma Thurman's titular character was presented as unhinged and cruel and, hence, not relatable.

The openings were mediocre, but overall weekend business was up eight percent from the same frame last year, when the sci-fi action flop, The Island, was among a weaker spate of debuts.

I think Ghostbusters III would be Ivan Reitman's biggest blockbuster in year's if he ever could make it with the original cast.
I think Kindergarten Cop was his last movie that was big at the Box Office and that's already 16 year's ago.
