Don't over-react. Bill's not saying anything new. And he's vague about what he's saying… he could be saying “there's no script” as in “there's no greenlit script”, considering we KNOW that someone is writing the script, and Bill says “there's a wish list of writers” or something to that effect.

good point, but everyone says they have read a script and that the major parties are on board, if thats true then wouldn't murray have said what reitman, akroyd, and ramis have been saying?

What makes more sense is that a script wasn't approved yet… but the plot was. Which would help Bill's statement make sense given what everyone else is saying. Or if the script was approved by Murray, it's possible he doesn't count it ‘official’ unless it's made it to the last draft.

Like said above, Murray is saying no “final” script that is set in stone and ready to go is there. I mean he wasn't even suppose to be in Zombieland and it changed during script writing so he has a VERY GOOD point, as until the script is final there is no script.

I don't care who is in it as along as it is good. To those that fool themselves to say “Only the originals or no go”, get over it. These guys are OLDER and they will NOT look the same on screen, so don't fool yourself! Hell Murray really looked old in Zombieland, but maybe it was the makeup to, but he is older. Passing the torch is FINE as long as it is done right and the right replacements.

Truly, people won't care about the new team as long as they're lovable, identifiable characters like the originals were in the first film. Of course there will be the lot that is ded-set against accepting a new team no matter what, but that's their problem.

Ghostbusting as an idea is bigger than Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis and Hudson. It's such a great concept that it's enjoyable no matter who's doing it! Now, since the original team will be in the film, I want them to be the main focus, but shifting to a new team = just fine, if they're great characters. I mean, who didn't like the Denver Ghostbusters in Braxtan's movies? Nobody complained because they're just supposed to be another franchise? I'm sorry, that proves that any team of Ghostbusters can be loved by an audience if the audience is willing to accept them.

Extreme Ghostbusters failed out-of-the-gate because the characters were hollow cliches at first. But by about the midpoint of the show, the team got more fleshed out and was better written. Truly; Roland, Garrett (dumb handicap aside), Eduardo and Kylie truly came into their own later in the show.

As I've said, I'm less thrilled about the idea of a ‘passing the torch’ kind of thing, but agree that it could be cool if done well. Indiana Jones 4 had that feel (and supposedly they're doing a new movie about Mutt sometime soon) and I hated that aspect more than anything about it. But to be honest, I like the idea less of rehashing the beginning of the second movie. I'm sorry, but there are SO many more interesting things that could be done with the story than ‘oh, they closed down for awhile and now they’re opening again'.

Realistically, the GB universe is MUCH more haunted than our own. If there was enough serious paranormal activity anywhere in the country that you could open a business on the premise of eliminating it, then it stands to reason you probably wouldn't run out of ghosts to bust. That's almost like thinking that a rat exterminator would go out of business because there are no more rats.

Howabout the Ghostbusters are on a big job and one of them almost dies and they realize it's time to bring in some new people? Or maybe The Ghostbusters have disappeared and the intern/rookie needs to find some others to help him/her save them. Or maybe there's an event which is encompassing the entire world, and they need to hire more people to help them cover it. Hell, these are just some off-the-top-of-my-head ideas, but at least I'm not copying and pasting from one of the other films in the series (maybe just the TV show. lol)

I don't think it really matters much now as the script seems to be finished and Dan seems happy with it in his usual cryptic ways, guess we just need to know if the studio is going to green light it or not and if Bill likes it as well.

I always used to hate how Bill was one of the reasons that GB3 was never made, but now after finally hearing his side I am happy with his stance. That being that he felt that the studio did not care about quality as GB2 was very different to what he was told it was going to be and of much lower quality and just a means to cash in.
