Besides writing Babylon 5, Captain Power, and some of the best episodes of RGB, good ole JMS has written his fair share of Spider-Man comic books. Many consider his Spidey comics to be the best of the series.

My point in this is that he's both very experienced in writing for the Ghostbusters and in writing comic books in general. So, I wonder if he'll ever write maybe. . . one or two issues of the new comic. I wish he'd become a regular writer, but I'm sure that will never happen. (*egon)

I think he's screwed up Spider-man, I don't read them anymore. And I'm a big Spider-man fan. I didn't really like RGB very much, actually, come to think of it. Besides, I think the writing for the current comics is exceptional and much more believable than RGB.

im diggin his new spidey stuff-the new twist on the goblin/gwen stacy story is a good read.

I kind of like those stories that make you stop and say “holy shit, what the fuck?”-know what I mean?

His spidey work is far different from his RGB work to say the least

Nothing against JMS, but I don't think I'd like him on the writing team for the comic. My reason? I don't like how he portrayed Janine in RGB S1. I want this comic's Janine left alone.

Meh. I've liked a lot of his stuff before; so maybe. RGB was suppossed to be a kiddy book/show; not really particularly serious like the 88MPH book; so there really isn't no telling what he could do.

Just so long as Austen or Morrison don't get on it; I'm fine.

Sarah, just because he was on the show doesn't automatically make him responsible for just what specific details Janine had that you didn't like, and as it was said, it was a kids show, maybe he'd be able to do more grown up stuff in 88's comic. Besides, if you remember, he quit because of the changes that were being made, which janine would you prefer, the Janine from the first series, or the helium injesting ‘cheerleader’ Mommy figure?

Handley, just how has he screwed up Spidey? His work has been great, incorporating small but amusing pop culture references…I bet he was the one responsible for the Ghostbusters references of recent. You can't judge a man as good as JMS based on the restrictions of a cartoon show.

Uh, Kingpin, buddy, pal, I wrote that five months ago. :-)

Didn't think anyone would notice. :p

Anyhoo, I thought it was only him that came up with all the ideas for Janine(look, persona, etc.). If I was wrong in that asumption, then I stand corrected.

EgonsBabe, can you repeat what exactly is your problem with JMS's Janine?

I reflect what Innsmouth said. JMS has a talent for writing all sorts of different stories and could surprise us with some good, dark stories. But if dark is what you want, how about Michael Reaves? Not only did he write many RGB eps, but he was also a writer and story editor for “Batman: TAS” and “Gargoyles”, easily the two darkest animated shows of the 90s.

I think it's because the version of Janine in the earlier seasons of RGB has a more sexier ‘adult’ look that Egonsbabe doesn't like. I think she prefers the kid-friendly mommy figure of latter seasons, but I could be wrong.

I think it would be nice to see JMS as a guest-writer for 88mph, but I sincerely doubt it'll ever happen. Although he has slipped in a couple of GB references in the Spiderman comics, which indicates that he still has some sort of affection for the property, he's probably much too busy to write for 88mph. I also agree with The Joker that Michael Reaves would make a good guest-writer, as well. I think someone with the ability to write darker stories would fit in better with the 88mph universe than someone who wrote for the more ‘kid-friendly’ latter seasons of RGB. I'd hate to see any junior ghostbusters turning up in this comic.

Personally, I love the way Andrew Dabb is taking the series so far, so although a few guest writers would be nice, it wouldn't bother me if it didn't happen.
