I thought Dick would be the nickname for a name like Richard? Not Rick? Maybe I'm wrong though (*peter) (*winston)
And my apologies if this post is long. I know that what I'm about to touch upon hasn't been talked about for probably a good few months, but since EgonsBabe said she wished EgonsGirl and myself were around to help explain this more/better, I thought I'd give it a crack. So, before I continue on with whether or not I'd like to see JMS as a guest writer for an issue or two of the new comic, I just want to give a quick input as to the Egon/Janine thing that thad been going on on page two of this thread, lol. I mean even though it's not directly related to the thread, if I can't get into the bickering than, really, what good am I? lol
As far as the Egon/Janine thing goes I can see where EgonsBabe can get the impression that Janine was always pursuing Egon. The one thing about that that should be understood though is that Ghostbusters came out in 1984. RGB first aired in 1986. So with the exception of the ep Citizen Ghost where Janine asks Egon to stay with her where it's safe after he pushes her out of harms way, there was a good amount of time between the movie and RGB for her feelings towards Egon to develop even more than they already had. The Janine in the film may not have “pursued” Egon the way you think the RGB Janine did mainly because like I said in real time 2 years passed before RGB first aired on TV after the movie. If we're not talking about real time, than still you've got probably a good few months between the end of the movie and when Citizen Ghost took place (since it would have taken probably a month or so to restore the firehouse). I like to think of Janine's “purusing” Egon more often starting when she runs up to him and hugs him at the end of the movie glad that he's alive since you notice she didn't do that with any of the other guys.
As far as Janine's outfits go, vgirl would probably be the first to say that she absolutely loved parts of Janine's wardrobe and hated other parts of it. The wardrobe I'm inclined to feel that vgirl loved most was Season 1 Janine's and hated the latter seasons Janine's. I myself personally feel that out of all the eps I've seen with Season 1 Janine, that she never wore skimpy outfits. Like Innsmouth said she dressed with a balance of looking fashionable, but not bookish and unattractive like Innsmouth said as well.
At first I did have a problem with Laura's voice, but than after hearing Kathie's voice and being reminded of how Kathie made Janine sound like a helium induced cheerleader mommy type figure, I definitely preferred Laura's Janine over Kathie's. I also preferred Laura's Janine over Kathie's because at least Laura actually used a Brooklyn accent whereas Kathie's Janine just sounded like a regular woman from some place like California or something (not sure if people in California have accents just know that if they do they don't sound anywhere near like New York accents).
At any rate, like Innsmouth I feel that the Season 1 Janine, while not perfect (because no animated character period is truly perfect), was definitely better than what we got after JMS left RGB.
Back on topic though cause I wasn't just gonna let this be one big digression away from the topic at hand, lol. At any rate, I'd love to see JMS guest writing for an issue or two of the new GB comic. Everything from his end that he did with RGB was great.
