Hey everybody, Ryan here. New to the site here and new to collecting Ghostbusters items.

A little history… I've seen both movies and LOVE them! When I was younger I had all of the toys.. the Ecto's, the figures, slimer, all of it. But… as most kids do when it's time to move on… I sold them for next to nothing at a garage sale. So my quest is to try to get these items back and add them to my small collection.

I currently have the Hotwheels 1/64 new release of the Ecto and 2 different releases from Johnny Lightning. I've started to do some searching on the forum here for a larger scale Ecto 1 that is realistic and diecast. I see that JoyRide made an ecto but that thing seems to go for $100+ on auction sites. Are there any alternatives out there to this?

Thanks and hope this is in the right place!

Welcome, man. I don't post too often on here but I have been doing what you are doing. When I was younger, I had every toy but gave them away. Over the past few years, I've got most of the collection back. Good luck in your quest.

Welcome and congratulations! You already have a highly sought after item (the Hot Wheels Ecto-1).

Unfortunately, there are no other large scale die-casts, and the JoyRide for $100 is actually on the low end. It usually goes for closer to $200.

I'm sure you'll enjoy posting here, its a fun place with lots of really nice people who are always willing to help.

Welcome Humvvee. Collecting GB merch has certainly become more interesting over the past year with the influx of new items into the market. And course, find thing old stuff is like a treasure hunt - but best of luck. Not too long ago I added a complete Kenner RGB Series 1 MIB to my collection. Very proud about that one.

As Dr. V stated though - 100 bucks for the Joy Ride is actually a pretty good price now unfortunately. There was some chatter of a re-release in the UK, but we haven't seen it come to fruitition yet.

If you want to start with the die-cast cars and want something fun to hunt for - Fiji Film put out a 1:64 scale Ecto-1A back when GBII came out. That would give you one of each type of that scale officially released.

your best bet is go to flea markets and look for someone selling diecast cars I was able to get mine (out of the box) with the slimer for only 20 bucks.

Hey everybody, Ryan here. New to the site here and new to collecting Ghostbusters items.

Ooh, ooh, I've always wanted to do this.

(*hands Humvvee a smoking Ghost Trap*)

Welcome aboard!

EDIT: RE: mdp872105

Just wanted to tell you that, at least in my area, the flea markets and garage sales have for the most part dried up, at least where GB items are concerned. Ah, those were the days. (Mind you, I was able to get an FGB Fangster at the SwapORama in Alsip a couple years ago…)

Also, for some reason, I want to type your name in as “mdp802701.”

Thanks all!

I'm off to a running start. Should have a few different Ecto 1's in the mail this week… trades from a diecast board.

I'll be sure to share pictures when they arrive :-)
