I generally try to keep an eye on everything Vincent has done wonders for the fanfic board so I let him do his thing there. Mostly keep up with active topics during the day though.

you know what would be really neat?

a “hi im new” forum or a “welcome” forum for people that just signed up. im on another message board and it works fantastic. so do private messages, but thats already been discussed.

Hi, I moderate the paranormal forum. And glance at everything else.

I'm Mod Emeritus. I have no real domain that I maintian at GB.net, rather my senior citizen status in the community has prompted Chad to grant me mod status out of pity.

Due to the nature of my day job, months will pass and I'm nowhere near the boards, let alone posting or modding, and then I'll be back, getting in everyone's way.

More often than not you'll never notice the changes I make to the board.

ProtonCharger, that's a great idea, one I was mulling over myself, but rather than a new forum, I think a Welcome, Welcome, Welcome thread (like the one on the RPG forum) is a great place for newbies to drop in and say hello.

Perhaps the prominant mods on the other forums could create a thread like this, say a friendly hello to new people, encourage them to day hello there, briefly direct them to the board rules and FAQ thread, and the stick it. I think it would go a long way to A)prevent clutter posts as the handful of new arrivals everyday post to say hello and B)prevent them from getting discouraged when they don't get a reply to their Hello! posts (which sometimes happens).
