Knight Rider

I didn't see a thread on this, so I thought I would start one.

This past Sunday, NBC aired the back-door pilot for a new Knight Rider series. Having been a KR fan from the original series, and suffered through Team Knight Rider, I was really looking forward to this. Overall, I wasn't too disappointed. Were there some things I would change? Sure, but coming from network TV, I thought they did a good job.

I absolutely love the car! I was leary at first, having KITT go from an 82 Trans-Am to a 08 Shelby GT500KR, but having seen the car - love it. I can see how one could complain that this was simply a 2-hour Ford commercial, but so was Transformers for GM and I loved that too.

It looks like it will at least be picked up for a first season.

I open this up to discussion of compliments, complaints, and suggestions. I'd also like to see which of my fellow Ghost-heads also enjoy a talking super car.

I just knew about this new series this week… not a big fan, but I remember watching it back in the 80s. Loved the Trans-Am… but the new KITT… I dunno…

I love the Mustang Shelby… but thinking of it as KITT Odd!

I thought it was a great movie. I loved the original series as well. Can't beat the ‘hoff. TKR was good series but not quite good enough. Did you notice that at the end of the movie, instead of the 18 wheeler, they wheeled him out of a transport plane like in TKR.

Any way, hopefully, it gets picked up as a series. It has potential for one. But the only thing I didn’t like about it was that they made Mike Tracur Michael Knight's son and that the 'hoff was barely in it and the orginal K.I.T.T.(Knight Industries Two Thousand) was out of commission.

The only thing I can say that I liked about TKR was the Bikes that fused into the car….that was sweet.

Hell yea. That was one of the good things about it that I liked as well. Hopefully we see something along the line of a nod towards TKR if this new one gets taken up as a series.

Other than that particular element (the bikes) and the Jet being thier transportation…I remember very little about the series…

Wasn't KARR in that series as a main villain at the end?

Not sure. I also remember they brought the original KITT back but he was out of control and they had to destroy or disable him, I think.

Well, TKR had a cliff-hanger ending. In the last ep, a big bad guy in a wheelchair (I think his name was Mobius, but don't quote me, it's been a while) got onto Sky-1 (The plane) and stole the computer out of the conference room console. The computer was a green glowing orb of circuits which had “K.I.T.T.” printed on it and about 4 red lights scanning back and forth. Then the team went to a certain destination, found a headstone to the memory of Micheal Knight, and finally turned around to a man in a leather jacket saying “I'm Micheal Knight.” …End of series.

I think the evil car your thinking of in TKR was KRO or something like that - their evil black sports car which had to be destroyed.

And Ghostbusters213, I had my doubts about the Shelby as well, but I thought it worked very well for the show.

For those who haven't seen it yet, nbc.com has it up to be streamed. Also, they are re-airing it in a “special presentation” tomorrow night.

I remember the ending you mentioned…vaguely…but I seemed to remember KARR written on the computer not KITT…so I must have been wrong.

I think it was KITT, but it's been several years since I've seen the ep, so take it with a grain of salt. haha

In regards to the new KITT, while William Daniels will always be the perfect voice, I thought Val Kilmer did a good job. It was interesting to hear a higher profile voice in the role, though it didn't scream Val Kilmer either. When I first watched a week ago, I didn't know about the voice change to him over Will Arnett, but watching it again, you can tell it's him. If it makes it to a series, I hope he stays on to build the character. It's got great potential.
