Large Ghost Plush, need help Identifying him!

Hi:-)

I'm new to the Ghostbusters forum, but I am definitely a fan! However not as big of a fan as my husband, who had told me he had a lot of Ghostbuster toys. The only one he kept that was tucked away in his attic was this large ghost with the red sign around him. He is approximately 32" long, and has large eyes, puffy nose and a cardboard smile.

I can't find a tag on him, but its safe to say he is the Ghostbusters sign.
But I can't find anything about him, even in the collectibles pages on this website and several others, he is no where to be found.

Does anyone know any information of this?
Greatly appreciated!

I attached a links to pictures of this huge plush ghost, he is in really great condition for his age!

That looks like a custom thing to me. I don't think anything like that was ever released officially… at least I've never seen one.

I asked him mom about this and she said she bought it at a department store back in the 80's, she doesn't remember where though!

Thats a neat looking find you got there. Wish I had one of those. That'd be cool if they made those again or someone started to make them for other fans.

I have no idea of the origin of that piece but to me it screams carnival prize.

The size would certainly support it, and the eyes and mouth definitively give off that carnival knockoff vibe.

On top of that there's apparently no sign of any tag or anything along those lines that would mention copyright indica and/or manufacturing info (at least you didn't mention it) which is another strike in the “carny prize” category as carnivals and the like are chock full of black-market stuff like that.

Still, it's kinda cool, even if it isn't an officially-licensed product.

One of those was on ebay a few weeks ago, without a tag also. It's most likely a unlicensed carny item. Anyways, I guess now that I've seen two of these things, that i'll start a wiki page on it.

Anyways, it's a neat item.

Thanks to everyone for responding

I asked his parents, and they know for sure it was bought at a department store, possibly toys R Us or Walmart, but they just can't remember.
I'm thinking maybe a Toys R Us exclusive??

We also thought maybe it was discontinued possible hazard with the sign around the ghost?? Who knows!
