LEGION #3 - 11/3/04

Maybe this is easier for me to understand as I've not followed the cartoon series and never really liked GB2, but they way the comic works seems very straight forward to me.

Y'know, when reading it, I wouldn't even take the fist movie into account. The Ghostbusters comic story starts at Legion #1, not the movie. The events of the movie did happen, but you don't need to know them. Anything you need to know from the movie gets explained in the issues and you can enjoy it without any knowledge of the film.

In the film, at no point does it say “hey, this is 1984!”. You can tell from the fashions and the overall 80'sness of it all, but it's not part of the story. The movie has aged extremely well and, if it was released exactly as it was today, it'd only be the fashions that give anything away.

SPOILER ALERT!!

Complaint #1: Too short!

My comic book story only got the painted cover, not the regular cover; I'll be getting that from them or Graham Crackers Comics.

I do love the look back in time when they were all college punks and building their first interdimensional cross rip machine thingamabob.

Janine is HILARIOUS!! MORE MORE MORE!! The comedy that comes through in this book involving Janine is SO MUCH MORE FUNNY than she ever was in either film!!! I LOVE her as she's written in these books. When she pulls out the fake tit and slams it into Venkman now THAT is SO funny!!

The appearance of “The Onionhead” is great! :-) I am a big fan of the art they used to re-create him.

The ending of this book does definitely leave me wanting more, especially because it was so short. I got a drop of water in the desert with this little morsel and need more. I hope that the conclusion of the story in Vol 4 of 4 is much longer to make the wait feel worth it.

Well, let me take that back for a second: It IS worth it, because the art is great, and I love the story telling, and the way Janine is written is terribly awesome. I just wish the portions of the story were longer.

Here's looking for # 4 of 4 coming out soon! (Please!!)

Yeah, I agree with you. The parts with Janine are one of the most hilarious parts in the comic. I about laughed my head off when she slams that fake tit in Peter's face; that was funny, and the reaction of Peter and the look on his face was priceless. I also like the part when Venkman was trying to score with that girl while making her think it was some sort of ritual, and when she runs out the door Peter yells “Wait! if we don't finish the ritual there'll be a curse.” and then Draverhaven said “The Your not getting lucky tonight curse.” I got a chuckle when reading that part. Overall, I liked Legion #3. It had Great character development, comedy moments, the art work was awesome, and I thought this issue did a good job setting up the events that will happen in the next issue. Excellent job by 88mph Studios. Keep up the good work.

I especially enjoy how we, you know, just accept and respect people's opinions and move on.

I loved Legion 3. The way I see it, a slightly flawed comic compared to no comic at all is fair enough.

If I were to comment on it specifically, though, I'd have to mention that it's a bit too short. Before I finished turning the first page, it seemed like it was over. Ah well, no big deal, this is the current state of most comics now anyways.

But yeah. Gordon, you made some very insightful remarks, don't stay away for too long.
You kind of remind me of the way I used to post.
