i LOVED the legion series..i am so happy that ghostbusters is actually making a comeback…and such a remarkable one at that.. anyway the only thing that bothered me about the comic was the cellphone and the starbucks mention. i cant help to wonder if those kind of cellphones were out back then let alone starbucks. now, im not ragging on the comic…far from it, i walk to my local comic book store everyday to see if a new one came in because i dont know the dates they come out haha…im just wondering if the writers know the time period they are suppose to be in…

(*ray) See,i think the reason they did that was because of the sheer fact Ghostbusters can be timeless if they want it to be…(besides if u involve GB 2 of course)…they left that open cause it fit with current times, which besides some pop culture…if u look at GB 1…it would fit into todays timeframe. Really i say leave an exact time out…just keep the people guessing like RGB…if im not mistaken they never mentioned an exact year or date at any point, leaving the possibilities very very open.

now those are all great points…but this was clearly said by 88mph studios that the stories take place in between GB1 and GB2…so it is still in the eighties and if i remember cellphones in the eighties consisted of a GIANT suitcase to charge it and it looked alot like a big army walkie talkie…and i certainly dont remember any starbucks around in the eighties..now dont get me wrong…i love the comic…the writers just need to remember what their setting is.

(*ray) well, they may have intended that originally but none of the prefaces in any of the comics mention anything more than the happenings of GB1…im not even sure if 88mph studios has the abilities to mention any of the happenings of GB2 since im not sure they gained those rights…really i think for best interests of the franchise itd be best to write off the happenings of gb2,or at least any mentions of certain upcoming years, so the writers have more freedom.

Andrew Dabb is very professional, I wish people would give him more credit when ti comes to the time the comic is set, while there isn't an obvious reference in the first issue (Mostly magazine dates), if people read them as well as they say they did, then they should see that in Legion 2, part of the blurb reads:

New York 2004:

While I sometimes find it hard to believe, in this day and age, that some people didn't catch it online, I will say that 88MPH has stated several times that the comic is set in 2004.

Though, surely the World Trade Center missing from that shot of Manhattan in the end of legion 3 should've been a bit of a giveaway.

They don't mention GB2 because they're choosing to ignore the events of that movie. Fans are divided in their opinions of that movie. It definitely could've been better, but oh well. I'm glad they're ignoring the events of that movie and doing it the way they are.

(*ray) Yeah,im with you venkman…GB2 was good i thought, although to mention that might lose some fans since some few it as a disappointment but im glad they're doin it the way they are…after all like i said, gives the writers more freedom and what not, which can only mean good things by what ive read so far in the Legion Mini-series. I just cant wait for the on-going to start in the upcoming months.

It subjects Andrew Dabb and the team to having to work with less established continuity…and potentially flawed continuity at that, I think it's a good decision because at most, it meant 88 could only do about five years worth of Ghostbusting, minus time for court cases, and that just wouldn't work well for a comic.

I wonder, if it should last five years, what kinda plots will have been published, and what could still be in production, oh well, only time will tell.
