I'm looking for a particular episode of the real ghost busters and all I can remember is that the team go and visit a large mansion and they encounter some strange people, one of which was threatening them with an incredibly large gun which is was struggling to hold. Any ideas?

That would be Boo-dunnit. A great episode. The ghosts are acting out a murder mystery as Winston is reading to solve it.
