Hey Skankz, if you're truly to your credit in the loop. You can tell em to stop ruining the game by making the ghost catching so easy. They've installed an Auto Wrangle feature?

I mean, don't get me wrong, i'm still excited. But really? The whole climax of chasing ghosts down is supposed to be wrangling them into that trap. Now they're saying its dumby proof? No thanks mate. Tell em to stop it.

I've seen the demo, well, the video and well, the game doesn't do it for you, all it does is turn the beam into the wrangle beam, you still have to get the ghost into the trap yourself.

Please don't turn this forum into Kotaku.

Never been on that particular forum. Though there's no need for veiled slaps to the face. Just sharing my own opinion on the current build. My main concern is I don't want it to be a hand fed experience. Though as long as we still have a job to do with wrangling the ghost into the trap i'll be happy.

Ummm…..*flips through hundreds of interviews and puts on glasses* “We want you to feel like the ghost at the end of the line is strong and won't let you trap it so easily. So you will have to wear it down first before you are able to trap it. Team work will also will be needed to make trapping easier.”

Auto-wrangling doesn't mean “automatically gets put into the trap as soon as you wrangle it” no, it means you switch from one form of fire to another automatically.

You still have to weaken the ghost and move it into the trap so it is hardly “going easy” on you.

I think you need to watch the demo level with Peter Venkman and you will see it clearly.

I've watched it a few times, but I was paying more attention to what was going on with the movements and everything else. Not so much at the changes in the mode and what not. I don't think i've watched it more than three times.

Regardless if it was redundant, (Not to my knowledge.) I think it was still a fair concern after the changes in controls and accessibility.

And most of those hundreds of pages of interviews (I'd like to see that number.) are not the most recent. I've read that line used several times, but unless you've played the demo or the game, everyone has a different notion of what that “experience” is supposed to be like.

So I don't think responding like it's a matter of course is exactly accurate. Taking a Producer or Developer's word at how authentic/intuitive the experience is, is kind of like being told what you yourself should feel is that experience. So when I read that MTV article about accessibility being increased and the control changes, it brought up legitimate concerns. It's not that serious. I laid out a concern, it was addressed. No worries.

I played a demo for the Wii and Xbox 360 at the New York Comic Con.

Take it from me, the game is plenty difficult on both formats. On the build I played on the Wii, you had to wear the ghost down and then shake the nunchuck to engage the wrangle beam. It was counterintuitive and I mentioned that to James Clarendon (sp) who was watching me play. He said that the developers agreed and that on the final build the beam would change from blast to wrangle automatically when the ghost's health meter was worn down enough. On the 360 build, the beam automatically changed from blast to wrangle, but I still had to pull the ghost over the trap and hold it there long enough to be pulled down into the trap. That said, one could engage the wrangle beam early by pressing the left bumper and the right trigger and use it to move small physics objects out of the way and I was told that you could even wrangle ghosts early using that feature - but that you had to be “really good” to do so.

That aside - Skanker, do you happen to know if the player is able to trap multiple ghosts in the same trap at the same time? I was thinking that this might be a good way to earn extra money. For example, say you and Ray both wrangle a different ghost and bring them over a single trap at once; instead of earning $500 for separate catches, you could earn $1500 instead.

That would also work as a nod to the original Activision game - though I know most are trying to stay as far away from that as possible.

No Verdic, I did not play the demo, but I know a few friends who had. I don't think Terminal Reality would make it THAT easy to to capture as they want it to be fun.

Plus, this line I have been giving was not just in one interview, but several including some today. I am just paraphrasing, but they all say this somewhere in there.

There are even a few that the developers will say “(fellow employee) has been doing this for a while so he knows what to do.” It's like pottery, if you watch a master they can make it look so easy, but when you try it without any experience you find it to be harder than it looks.

Have faith in Terminal Reality. Heck, I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.

I find it funny how everyone who isn't on here, is misinterpreting “auto-wrangle.”
I mean if you watched the demo as you say Verdic, then you would have noticed that it took three tries to capture Slimer. He even escaped the traps.

You say you were looking at movement. and such like that….so all you did was look at the insignificant details that probably are as close as they can be? Like the piano. Yeah the beam goes through the piano without ti breaking, but it is as close as it can get without screwing up. As kingpin would say “Close enough.”
