I played a demo for the Wii and Xbox 360 at the New York Comic Con.
Take it from me, the game is plenty difficult on both formats. On the build I played on the Wii, you had to wear the ghost down and then shake the nunchuck to engage the wrangle beam. It was counterintuitive and I mentioned that to James Clarendon (sp) who was watching me play. He said that the developers agreed and that on the final build the beam would change from blast to wrangle automatically when the ghost's health meter was worn down enough. On the 360 build, the beam automatically changed from blast to wrangle, but I still had to pull the ghost over the trap and hold it there long enough to be pulled down into the trap. That said, one could engage the wrangle beam early by pressing the left bumper and the right trigger and use it to move small physics objects out of the way and I was told that you could even wrangle ghosts early using that feature - but that you had to be “really good” to do so.
That aside - Skanker, do you happen to know if the player is able to trap multiple ghosts in the same trap at the same time? I was thinking that this might be a good way to earn extra money. For example, say you and Ray both wrangle a different ghost and bring them over a single trap at once; instead of earning $500 for separate catches, you could earn $1500 instead.
Also coming from someone who played the demo at NYC Comic Con I can say that wrangling the ghost gives a unique challenge. Believe me, it's not the hardest thing you'll ever do in a video nor is it a walk in the park. Wrangling was both fun and innovative but also presented a degree of difficulty as the ghost would try to escape (and did escape on some occasions) and then go back to possessing items and flinging them at you. Even if you damaged the ghost enough to where it was knocked out I could still feel some resistance while it was going into the trap.
And I'm sure that the demo was on Normal or maybe even Easy difficulty. Try it on a harder difficulty when you get the game if you're not convinced but I sure as hell was.
