Mattel Con Exclusive Egon Scalper Talk

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to pass this along, because with Ghostbusters toys coming to the current market, many of the fans/collectors may not be familiar with how things work with new toys.

If you check ebay, you can already find a lot of pre-orders for the “Slimed” version of Egon and Slimer that will be the 2009 San Diego Con Exclusive from Mattel, as a preview of their upcoming Ghostbusters online exclusive 6" toyline. These pre-orders are for upwards of $45-$60 each! Many of us can't get to the conventions, so we're faced with secondary market prices….or are we?

As of last year, Mattel now offers their convention exclusives online at MattyCollector.com right after the con is over! So, you can pay convention prices (plus about $8 shipping) for your toys and not feed the ebay scalpers! So, be sure to encourage this type of behavior from Mattel by purchasing on their website and discourage overpriced scalpers from taking advantage of the modern day toy collector!

They did announce that these would be available right after the con, but the announcement was missed by many… thanks for posting this in such a way that it makes it quite clear that we can all get this figure (at least the ones that make sure to get online right away).

Not a problem. I'm happy to help other collectors in any way I can. I also figured many missed the announcement and or had no idea to even look for such a thing and would go right to ebay.

Like it says, they will be available on the site right AFTER the convention, so probably around July 27th.

i still cant help but think that the Egon figure looks more like Elvis Costello than Harold Ramis. lol.

Im still very excited, but they said they would be released in June. and we havent heard anything about that ever since the announcement in Feb. now they're gonna be released in July? can someone clear this up for me?

Everything on mattycollector's facebook page says the first announcements about the series will be made at SDCC.

I encourage everyone to report any auctions they see for these figures, given the fact that they are in violation of eBay's rules and regulations.

eBay states:

“ebay permits pre-sale listings. The seller must guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the date of purchase. The seller must also clearly indicate within the listing the fact that the item is a pre-sale item with a delivery date that indicates the item will be shipped by the 30th day from the end date of the listing.”

Several of these listings end around the time of the Con, but you can use Buy It Now, and purchase them today, which is in violation of eBay's rules.

These skalpers should be brought down. They shouldn't be able to sell these figures at such astronomical prices when they haven't even gone on sale yet.
