Memories Of The Ghostbusters Spooktacular

I'm not sure if anyone has done a thread exclusively on the now long gone Ghostbusters Spooktacular. So I decided to make one since I'm really interested in hearing people experiences and memories of it.

Well here is my experience, it was 1995 or 1994 (I forget which year at the moment) I went to Florida with my mom & dad to DisneyWorld and Universal Studios. It was the last day of the vacation and we went to Universal, I remember it being hot and humid as hell. Unfortunately I was affected by the heat so much we almost didn't go in because I vomited in a planter while waiting in line for tickets.

Anyways we went into the pre-show area where Louis selected volunteers for various gags and it was already half over. I nagged my parents to ask a worker on if I could get picked to be a volunteer and they got me up on stage during the next show! Louis put the electrodes on my forehead and made the audience look at the tv screen which showed my face superimposed over Conan The Barbarian. I also think they let me try on a Proton Pack, its all on video…hopefully I'll upload it to YouTube someday.

I actually never saw the show, when I got to Universal, it was raining and it was cancelled.
Such luck. Same with the soundstage one, it was under repair or something. So I could only watch it on youtube.

Aw, I feel sorry for ya man Oddly enough I barely remember the actual show, but I do remember the ghosts flying over the audience. I especially remember the store that you went through after the show, I kept staring at the Slimer effect they put at the top of this phony staircase. Also I was pissed that my parents wouldn't buy any of the toys, I did get a pin and earrings though.

I share Back In Black's experience. I went at that same time right before they closed it with the Louis show. Never got to see the car that Paul owns now. The gift shop had stuff from other attractions in it. Actually have never been back since. I believe it was either Twister or Backdraft that took it's spot and now it's all gone completely.

Strangely enough my old boss back in Indiana when I did electrical work, had once lived in Florida and worked on the firehouse. He told me right before it's original opening date the water lines for the sprinklers burst and flooded the place. Most of it had to be rebuilt and pushed the opening back quite a ways.

Yes, I went to Universal to go see that show about the same time you did.

I was about 10 at that time and my brothers were younger.

When Stay Puft blew up they used to have steam/smoke come out and blast the audience for like 10 seconds and all I remember is my brothers crying hysterically because of it, LOL.

After the show the Ghostbusters would come out the back entrance and walk around and greet the crowd, I thought they were the sh!t, lol.
