Midwest Ghostbusters Idea

So the other night I had a nightmare about my dad back on the farm cutting down this haggard old tree that was out in one of our fields when I was a kid (don't know if it's even still there or not) but it released some sort of demon out into the world. The rest of it is kind of hazy but I realized how that could turn into a cool fan fiction for a Midwestern chapter of Ghostbusters International. I'll probably end up writing the story as the ideas just come to me about interesting ways to take the story or new weapons/technology. Whenever I talk about the dream, I refer to it as the Lord of the Harvest, as most of our land was indian teritory. So anyways… anyone want to help get involved with the story writing process with ideas or suggestions?

I'd be happy to help you out with stories for a new GBI franchise. I was just thinking of coming up with a new one myself over the weekend while I was on a weekend getaway. I got some pretty cool ideas. PM me when you get the chance.

Certainly sounds like an interesting concept from the initial offset…

The idea of a gnarled old true containing a malevolent entity which is released when cut reminds me of a RGB comic story…

…and also of Fern Gully

It reminds me more of the latter, but it still could be an interesting idea if done properly.

That idea also reminds me of an early West Coast Division story. But hey, its a good idea none the less.

Wasn't there something like that in Poltergeist as well?

Idk. But its still a great idea.

Crimson: What state do you want them to be based out of?

Holy crap… I never thought about that. Like I said, it was a dream but… huh.

Okay, possible explaination: every night I fall asleep by watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, there's a riff that they do in “Eegah” where Joel goes, “I got it, he looks like the bat from ‘Fern Gully’!” and maybe that got in my dream.

“Poltergeist” was on an indian burial ground, our land is just where they lived. I think they buried their dead by the creek down the road from our house.

It reminds me the 26th level of ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS, “Where the red fern growls”. :-)

Great game, I remember a comic I did years ago about this game, and at the end, the Dr. Tongue (the evil character of the game), became a ghost, and Julie an Zeke (the main characters) wore a Proton pack and busted him. :p
