How do you become a mod? Do you need a certain amount of posts or something?

You certainly do not become a mod by the amount of posts you have, or asking to become one. Most of the time the Admin (Chad) selects who the moderators are. There hasn't been a new mod added in a while, mostly because we have enough right now.

Thank you. I don't want to be one, but I posted it for anyone who wants to be one.

Usually you have to be seen as being trustworthy and a good poster/contributer…

It's easy to go blast happy with moderation powers so Chad only goes after people he thinks are right for the job and can do a good run at it.

Pretty much like a private club, you can't join… you're invited in.

It's not all fun though, especially when we have a ‘live one’ doing the rounds and posting his brains out with spam.

I agree.. I run a yahoo club in yahoo. And I have some mods but I picked them because they show that they are good posters and they are trustworthy. I used to think it was about posts and how active you or on a message board. But it's not, It's about how a good trusting member you are. I would think communication skills and your attitude goes in with that. I'm sure it's not an easy job is it Kingpin!?

My boyfriend has a fourm and he noticed how pissed off I was of him letting a girl I wasn't keen on being an Admin for his fourm (she is soo stuck up, she actually had a stalker) and he made me a mod thinking it would make me feel better. Not that it did. She still stuck up and acting like she is boss more than my actual boyfriend.

Being mod is not easy though and Admin is a harder job.

I enjoy co-Admin-ing the Omnibus Fanfic board, but I wouldn't want to be the Admin of a site this size… experience has shown it is a trying and stressful job…

The difficulties of being a Mod, obviously, are putting yourself in the firing line and making some unpopular (Even if they're the correct) decisions…

Most of the time I don't have to worry or dread the job, but it's like a mini career.

I definately agree with you…..hey I'm not a bad poster ….I've been on here for a while even when there was the other message board on GB.net….I would definatley like to be one….I see that there is enough, but some of them don't come one here anymore….so what's the use of them being mods??? I know you would be a great mod because you are a great contributor to the site…however i dont think any more mods are needed at the time. Most of the mods that dont post much anymore still check in daily….they just dont post as much (some have said everything there is possible to say about GB lol) A few years ago we needed alot more mods. However, the boards have really calmed down in that there is far less conflict here now than there was in earlier years.
