Model Firehouse with Pics

I haven't posted on this message board in a good 10 years, so I don't know if the pictures I've attached to this post will work.

But if they do, I would like to share with you some photographs of a model firehouse I built in 2000. I uploaded these pics to some GB website in 2000, but I figured there are a bunch of newbies who never got a chance to see them. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the exterior, just a few of the interiors.

The model is basically made out of balsa wood and spray paint and took me about a year and $100 in materials to build.

I'd love to hear your comments.

OH… MY… GOD!

That is amazing, what we can see of it. Do you have some exterior shots of the model?

The inside looks unbelievable. So much detail. That's really amazing man. Makes me wish they'd release something like this for the masses.

I remember seeing that Firehouse model when I first signed up here, is it still in your possession, or has it since left this world?

very nicely done.

i've never really been sure of how the movie version of the firehouse is laid out, is there some kind of guide or floor plan available online?

Constructing the firehouse mainly included pausing the movie (VHS at the time) at appropriate moments and basically winging it. Back in 2000, there was a serious lack of resources available through the internet. Because H&L 8 and LA 23 are not identical, I had to make some adjustments, i.e. only 2 floors not 3, only 3 firepoles not 6, and other minor things. The scale of the model is somewhere between 1:32-1:35. My only regret is not making the model bigger to incorporate the Ecto-1A model.

The biggest pain in the rear-end was spraypainting the exterior red and painting by hand the tan brick design. However, I don't have any pics of the exterior at this time.

And yes, the model is still alive and kicking…..only that it's covered in dust.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

That is completely awe-inspiring. If you get the chance, I will add to the request for more pics. It looks like it might work for size of the minimates.

It's currently a work in progress.
