That doesn't really develop the new characters that well though, does it?

Because we don´t want them!!! I want the original Ghostbusters in a final GB movie.

Anyone who thinks we're going to get a GB3 without new recruits is out of their mind.

If GB3 is happening, new recruits are happening. Deal with it.

And don't say “we” and speak for all of us. I'm fine with new recruits as long as A) they're good characters and B) they don't overshadow the original team in this film. A GB4 or 5? They can do as they please, as long as GB3 serves as a transition. Meaning give the original four a proper send-off.

I agree with that. I think someone on here, and I apologize - I don't remember who it was, had a great idea: Let the original GB's work through most of the movie alone, even battling the main bad guy - but then the tease at the end is that they are bringing in new recruits.

Here is Ghostbusters III from my perspective.

I have been silent for a long time, as I have remained skeptical over the years, as most of you surely have felt the same way. Well, that was then, this is now.

Many things have changed since my skepticism was at its peak. You have a stellar video game, awesome 6“ / 12” figures from Mattel, two interesting Ghostbusters miniseries, the Ghostbusters Minimates and a TON more.

Remember, as Harold, Dan and Ivan have separately stated on many occasions, Ghostbusters is a partnership. This partnership includes the major stakeholders of the franchise (including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman). It is the same group which has prevented many attempts at another sequel. Their latest release, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, was worth the wait and was executed masterfully. Those who remain skeptical about Ghostbusters 3 because of Year One need to put more emphasis on the stakeholders of the franchise, not the writers of a film with an entirely different premise.

Now, for those who balk at the idea of new recruits. What then?

If Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) don't pass the torch to a new cast while they still yet have majority influence over the franchise, we may come to see a horrible remake or sequel under the allegiance of suits looking to purely cash in and not reinvest in the franchise. The time is now and it is very important that the torch gets passed on.

Ok, I got the point… I don´t want new recruits, but it´s happening, and I can live with it… what I don´t want it´s a Spider-Man 3 chaos… where you have a lot of main characters and none developed his roll in the movie… I want my beloved actors in their main rolls… and the recruits, as I said in the last page, coming at the end… to make the transition to the future of the franchise… that´s it.

I agree 100%. So it is then important to put emphasis on how this goes down, and I'm pretty sure that is a high priority item on their agenda.

Ghostbusters: The Video game (which featured a new recruit) is a good sign that ‘Team Ghostbusters’ has learned from Extreme Ghostbusters (which wasn't all that bad).

Chad, you are 100% right. I feel new recuits could be alright, but it all needs to happen in a certain way. The new team CANNOT be a group of huge name actors like Seth Rogan. This needs to be like Star Trek, cast semi-unknowns for the parts. Sure everyone knew Simon Pegg and Zach Quinto, but who knew Chris Pine? Most people I know said “the hick from Smokin' Aces”. That is what we need. This new crew should in no way overshadow the real Ghostbusters. I will say that we need Murray, Ramis, Aykroyd, and Hudson. Period. This film will not work without them. No recasting, no remake, but a revival. A film designed to revitalize the franchise for a new generation, yet still respect the original fans. A pass-the-torch story is an alright idea, but not ideal. My ideal, I say mine because I don't think everyone will like it. This film should introduce the new team early on with one of the original Ghostbusters as a teacher, but not in the EGB way. A teacher who is with them like a jedi-padiwan relationship. Then, whoever the teacher is (I see it as being Ray) leaves the team to work alone. The new gets in over their heads, and it's up to the original team to save them. Rambo-esque? Sure, but it would have the original team in roles more then cameos. It would clearly state, we have new Ghostbusters, but the original team will always be ready. I cannot imagine a better movie then one in which we see the GB's as more then mentors.

Right on Dr.D!

The new characters really need to be genuine and have heart, otherwise people will be comparing them to the established cast and the established cast will inevitably leave the fan base wanting more from the new torchbearers. A smooth delicate transition is what Ghostbusters 3 is all about, and I have 100% faith that ‘Team Ghostbusters’ can deliver. Whether or not the timing and script is right, time will tell.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm excited. It's good to get excited again.

I agree with you 100%,too. (*peter)
Spiderman 3 has a lot of errors, and I don´t want to see Ghostbusters with the same.

Maybe the old Ghostbusters are old,but they´re in our hearts forever.
But I sense the producers don´t listening too much the suggestions of the fans. This is like talk with stones.
