Hello all,
I'm looking for some help understanding exactly what the 4 categories mean on the multiplayer screen. The game manual and even the strategy guide come up short for clarification purposes.

QUICK MATCH -
PLAYER MATCH -
CUSTOM MATCH -
CREATE MATCH -

So you can search for matches in quick and player match. But what is the difference between the two? Also - sometimes I can't find any matches at all. But I believe there are matches going on, they are either private or full.

I've noticed that in create match you can create a game either campaign or instant… if you turn “ranked match” off that means you can start the match before another player joins.

I like this option… not to be overly unsocial towards other players but sometimes I just don't like waiting for another player to join. I like to start right away and then have people drop in as the game goes along.
Otherwise, I have to stare at the screen for ages until someone else drops in.

The downside to this is that ranked matches are the only matches in which a player can earn money - is this correct? Bascially you can either play right away by yourself OR earn career money.

Do I have this right? I guess some people would say “why play multiplayer alone, lol” but I don't have a lot of time a day to play Xbox. I get an hour, two at most. So I don't have the patience to wait. Interestingly enough, you can even limit the other players down to 0 and go it alone. But I usually keep it at 3 so others can join. The match ends, the money count appears but then doesn't tack on to the multiplayer total.

When can I invite people? I don't understand why there is an ‘invite’ button and it always is greyed out. I a kind of a noob to Xbox live… sometimes I invite people to a GB party screen and nothing happens. I don't have a headset and my speakers are rubbish, so talking isn't really an option. I don't want to talk anyway - I want to bust ghosts.

One a final note… can anyone enlighten me as to which matches one can engage the Order of Pelican ghosts (they are the Shriner dudes from the dropped single player parade level)… where/when do they spawn?

Do Clown Ghosts only spawn in the Streets and Office of Times Square?

Man, its not that complicated. Go to Browse matches…there's always someone there…whats your username? i'm there sometimes. Maybe you're playing on xbox, that could be your problem. PS3 is better.

It seems you've got it mostly right. I stuck with quick match to get the achievements, but now that I've gone as far as I can go - I'm doing the unranked matches just because, like you said, you don't have to wait for long periods of time either trying to find a match or waiting for other people.

And to the two responses: Why turn this into a fan-boy debate?

I have an xbox…and have played on PS3 and found there to be more people online who are playing on more than one occasion. I didnt get into preferences of systems. Jedi on the other hand…….

Okay… thanks for the input so far. Of course, the Xbox/PS3 issue is not an easy fix. Generally people don't run out and buy brand new $300+ gaming systems on a hunch that more people are playing multiplayer on a game they like, :-)

How about this: What's the intrinsic difference between Custom and Create? The interface seems the same…

well quick searches faster than player and player is probobly matches that you can start without anyone else maybe and custom is searching and you get to choose on on which match on custom create is were you make your on match.:-)

I'm finally getting the hang of Xbox live and figured out how to invite friends to a GB match.

I go on pretty late at night and usually end up playing alone which is fine sometimes… my solo record is 11 ghosts for Containment. How many can you guys trap solo?
