Don't have enough money to waste on garbage. We could start one that just says “it sucks”. LOL :-)

I think you should change that from “don't have” to “don't want”.

Haha.

I hate to be the soul dissenter here, but for many reasons this is likely a good thing.

But you are most likely scraping up your jaw and saying, “But why Jesusfreak?” at this point.

2009 = 25th Anniversary, we know this right.

Let's try and think about this from a marketing point of view; whats better - releasing a game and a BluRay set a year before an anniversary or a on the anniversary year?

Not too much of a big difference, right?

Well thats where everything else begins to factor in. Consider the manga, the comic, and the TimeLife DVDs as a “primer” of sorts. They help get the market ready for whats coming. This allows for greater penetration into target demographics.

Big Whoop, right? While it may seem bad to us, this change could possibly lead to everything selling better and more people looking into the property. If/when that happens your chances of things like TV shows, GB3, etc increase.

It is what it is. We should try and make the best of this situation, get hyped even more. Remember, all is not lost - it's just a little delayed. And hey, we've been waiting for something new since 1999(unless you want to count Legion) is a few extra months going to break you?

Well, it also depends on if the new publisher doesn't want to do anything stupid to the deal, but honestly, I can't think of a 10 month wait being anything but bad, even with the anniversary coming up.

Yeah. Put it out on time. I'll play it again when the anniversary comes up.

But why is it bad? The game hasn't been that heavily marketed. I mean, it's more likely to sell better being removed from the Gears of War 2 launch date without any sort of marketing.

I understand that it may not be the most welcomed thing by hardcore fans, but do you really want them to cater to us at the expense of broadening the franchise's horizons?

Well, personally, I can't imagine Terminal Reality wanting to market anything until they actually get a new publisher, and even still, we still haven't heard anything official, they've unfortunately been pretty tight lipped about this.

Honestly, until they can actually get the game out, yeah, I can't imagine much marketing going to happen. I just really hope that the new publisher just wants to publish and not put any of their stuff in.

The game is finished basically. So all they need is a date and they can really market. Any new publisher who picks up the title is going to have to deal with red tape from Sony and the liscence holders as well. I don't imagine the insertion of unwanted things shall be a problem.

Keep in mind, Sony recently found out that behind Coca-Cola that the GB logo is the most recognized logo in the world. They are not going to pass that oppurtunity to make money up. The game is going to be released. It's going to be a good game. Why not try and put a positive spin on the situation?

It's hanging a lot of hope on the chance that the Anniversary winds up being a big-ish event… Sony hasn't exactly shown us that they're stellar at marking the franchise's anniversary, everyone remember the damp squip that was the 20th?

And whilst it's likely to be both the BluRays and the game, is that enough to provoke the sort of ‘better chances of’ talk you suggested when it's just two items, when if it'd been released in October it'd have the cartoon series, the comic, the Kubricks and the manga? I'm not convinced.

By June, the RGB set would've been released and probably forgotten by the general public as a whole if they didn't buy it, the comic series from IDW would#ve wrapped up by January/February and of course, we don't know if there'll be enough to justify continuing it… even if it does continue as a monthly, they did say there would be a bit of a gap between the first monthly issue and the four part Other Side miniseries… the manga, also, would no longer be in the collective concious nor the Kubricks.

So far the anniversary only has nostalgia going for it, because if there was a time to release it in terms of merchandise, it's October 2008.

There is such a thing as overflooding a market with one franchise. Which they run the risk of doing releasing all of that stuff in a 2-3 month time spanse.

And yes Sony has had a bad track record, something they did before they knew how well known the logo was and likely the possibilities of the franchise. But speaking of Sony, if you look at a few of the articles posted around - they seem to be the ones pushing for the delay until next year. Why aren't they catching all the heat?

You're the first person to even consider/suggest that as an issue, and only after the delay possibility surfaced… Nobody seemed to mind the possibility of ‘oversaturating the market’ when it was still a concrete October release.

Frankly, that suggestion just sounds like poor justification:

“Oh, they could've released the game in October, but releasing it in June means they're not oversaturating the market.”

And I know you're better than resorting to that, Ron.

And it wouldn't be oversaturation, it's a handful of products, not like releasing everything from toys to food items… it's an incredibly small scale release into the market compared to what we've seen with things like The Dark Knight, Kung Fu Panda or Wall-e. There's no danger of it getting to the point where the number of products would actually turn people off of the small revival.

Why aren't they catching the heat? Because they're faceless. I don't know why they aren't getting a well-deserved chunk of the abuse but unfortunately that's how it's working out. People see Activision as the main instigator for this recent car crash, citing the original buyout of Sierra as the first point of impact.

But Sony do deserve our scorn, they've been dangling carrots in front of our faces for years and denying us the cartoon and other cool stuff until now.
