My Real Ghostbusters DVD dilemma

So yeah, I'm all ready to purchase my beloved animated GBs on dvd, when I come across this:

Is this the EXACT same as:

If so, I'm willing to wait a month and some change for that price difference.

I'll say your patience has paid off, Dead-Derek, and mine too!

I had a feeling they'd lower the price on the RGB set, but I didn't have any idea when, or by how much. Good, finally I'll be able to afford it.

$200 was a ripoff, wasn't it? Now, let's see…at Best Buy it was $25 for the one set. Multiply that by 5 steelbooks, and you get $125. Good, that's about right.

Question is, is that just the pre-order price, or is that going to be the full-stop price? It's because I have NO money right now, and school's just around the corner. At least when I get my job back I'll have some steady disposable money coming in.

To my knowledge the whole set includes extras not available when you buy them separately.

The separate sets do not include the Bonus Disc or the firehouse box. That, and the set never cost $200… especially with all the coupons that were available at the time. I believe I paid somewhere in the vicinity of $150 for mine, including shipping. Definitely worth it for all the extras (including the promo pilot) and the sweet firehouse box.

I think it's a matter of perspective.

Most things go down over time (unless they are collector items), but I personally was not willing to wait 10 months for the “retail” release.

I've had it since November and i've enjoyed having it for nearly a year now. No regrets on what i paid.

I planned on getting it when it came out, but having a kid disrupts your finances somewhat. On a quasi related note, I'm thinking of dressing my little guy up as Staypuft for this Halloween.

It's gone up to $160 now.

It's frustrating that they haven't announced Vol. 2 & 3 for seperate release.

The first 3 volumes represent the best the show has to offer before it changed and went on an obvious and rapid decline. As these could be bought (in theory) individually for $60, the firehouse set isn't that appealing unless you've got plenty of cash to splash around.

Well, they had said that they could raise or lower the price. I'm honestly not surprised that it went up to about what its retail is (and should be).

The individual volumes are $25 each… there's 5 of them… where are you getting “buy all of them for $60” from?
