My sister says the movie's effects look fake!

Are you sure? I'm visualizing it in my head as we type, and it sure looks like a model shot to me. The slime's got too much texture.

I'm sure, the Slime and the Station itself in that shot was a computer graphic image.

I think the effects in both movies have held up well and still look believable. Maybe some of them are slightly dated but that's bound to happen with any special effects as the years go by, what was revolutionary for one era will look dated in another, but will still hold importance for it's time. And IMO, it's always better for something to look slightly dated but still impressive and convincing, then more advanced but not as believable or organic-looking. And for me, the slightly dated effects only add to the charm, because they just don't make them like that, anymore.

Well, all right, I'll take your word for it. All I'm saying is, it looks a little bit too realistic for a CGI shot, but maybe I'm underestimating late '80s CG.

I guess it makes sense, in that an underground cross-section would be too expensive to do in model shot.

Cross section? I'm talking about the sequence seen just before Dana arrives at the museum, not the sequence showing the slime rising up the air shaft after Vigo's taken Oscar away from her.

The latter sequence was practical effects, some sort of liquid injected into the model as it was laid flat on a table or worksurface.

Slimer was a puppet . . . with a great big butt.

Also, The Godfather Part II taught me that kissing your brother on the mouth means “I'm gonna kill you”. That makes perfect sense to me. I don't know how that came about, and I don't want to know.

Sometimes it happens, Some movies do not use that much vast cinematography that's why it happens.

Judas kissed Jesus to rat him out to the Roman authorities. No doubt it's a Biblical shout-out.

I still can't believe the special effects team of Ghostbusters lost their oscars to the Special effects team of Temple of Doom. I mean imo the ghosts, the proton packs shooting particle streams, and a giant marshmellow man walking through New York are a lot more memorable than some guy getting his heart ripped out, then the same guy getting thrown into a giant fire pit, or some guy riding a mine car through a mine.

But, there were some shoddy effects in the movie…even for their time.
