Surprised to hear you needed glue to put it back on.

It actually holds in on it's own when I hold the car upside-down, but I'm terrified it'll go missing sooner or later if not glued back in place.

You know what I've suddenly realised about the roof rack? They've got a spot molded that probably was where they'd intended to tie the rear whip antenna, that block above the forward yellow tank… but they haven't bothered to use it.

Yeah I noticed that when I glued the antenna there. It indeed looks like it's meant to tie the antenna to.

I was looking at my ERTL 1:18 scale model and that is exactly where it is connected on that. The fron ariel need to be longer as that on my ERTL model is connected near the middle of the rack so needs to be about 1.5cm longer.

Looks amaziing! My 1:18 still hasn't shipped yet. but yeah someone must make motors for
the scope and the radome.

also, is it me, or the scopes are longer on the real car? I guess I'm just picky now.

For a moment I thought that was a custom on a 1:18 scale ecto-1.

You would of thought though that for this high a price that the Hot Wheels Elite Ecto-1 would do all this.

My Knight Rider car like the one below lights up and for 1/3 the price of the Ecto-1.

My 1/15 scale BTTF DeLorean lights up and plays sounds for 1/3 the price of the Ecto-1 again.

You can't really compare the 1:18 Ecto release to those models. The Knight Rider Ertl model isn't a model for the serious diecast collector. It's got nowhere near the details and craftmanship of the new Ecto and I think these Ertls are something of a model/toy crossover. The 1:15 Delorean even more so, it's made of plastic!
I think every self respecting diecast manufacturer's goal is to produce a model with as much detail as possible. Lights and sound are for toy version models.

Was only saying it can't really be that expensive to add the extra features, and if you don't turn them on it will still look like it does now.

IMO it just gives it that extra wow factor.

On another note I managed to turn the scopes around, I never even had to take them out, just gently rocked them back and forth until they started to move then turned them 180 degrees.

With regards to the earlier pictures in close macro mode they make the model look worse than it actually is. You can not see with the naked eye any defects with the paint job, the macro pictures is like looking at something through a microscope.

Oh but I agree that I would also love to have lights on the 1:18 Ecto smile
But when they would do it right (all lights working) I'm sure it would cost a LOT more. And then there's the red light on the roof rack. As you know the roof rack comes detached from the body. How would this light get its power?
Like I said, I would also love to have lights on this thing but it just isn't something that die cast manufacturers are doing. But I bet there will be GB fans taking the plunge and modding it.

Great you also managed to rotate the scopes. Looks a lot better doesn't it?! wink

I agree with you on the close up pictures; people who haven't seen the model in real life yet are getting a totally wrong idea about the details.
