The result is well worth the pricetag, and I will be buying the Ecto-1A if it's released in these scales. smile

With the larger roof rack and all the other little additional paint details of the 1A, I shudder to think of what they'd charge for that in 1:18.

Well got my 1:18 scale Ecto-1 today and it is so impressive with the level of detail.

It was a bit of a hassle getting it out of the actual box as it is screwed in with 4 screws that you have to undo just to get it out of the box.
The packaging was actually quite good from Play.com, the product was inside another box covered in polythene inflated bags.
You also have to put the roof rack and ladder on which are hidden in another bit of the foam packaging.

It was fairly simple to put together despite the lack of any instructions.
The only thing I was not happy with was the dish on the back of the rack was snapped off, I just glued it back in place. It also looks like that the front bumper is only glued on one side and can be pulled away from the car, I will leave it alone for the moment, but can be quite simply glued in place.

Looks like Mattel could do with better quality control, rather than trying to rush these models out to meet demand.

Anyway here are some very quick snaps to try and show it's scale against the 6" figures and the other 1:43 scale model.

Can we get more pics of the roof rack? Like different angles and stuff?

On an other note, BigBadToyStore updated their status on the 1:18… est arrival is January. ugh. I want my Ecto 1.

No Problem, here is a comparison of the new 1:18 Elite v's the older 1:21 ERTL Joyride.

Wow - I think that solidly answers the question about which model is better!! (My one gripe is the long tube on the passenger side of the roof rack - I really wish they had gone with yellow, but I understand it's based off the re-done Ecto, so I'll let it go.)

It was that colour on Ecto-1 pre-restoration too, the long side tank was never yellow.

Thanks for posting the comparison photo, I'd dug out my Joyride Ecto earlier today, and it really pales in comparison to the Hotwheels replica.

Dang - that means I've been wrong all these years. Oh well, not the first time. Thanks for the clarification Kingpin.
